On Pesach – with a straw. During the year – with a spoon. Why? I don’t know, I didn’t even know that they made lebens during the year until I was about fifteen… it might have something to do with our pesach silverware being much heavier.

@DaasYochid – Can you try this for me for real?

My question: Should I bother listening to anything posted in the CR.

Now, please check for me what comes up, and your interpretation.

(I wonder how will this will work…)

Ask any shochet who works for them how many chickens are checked an hour, and then divide by sixty to see how many they check a minute. I did, and each shochet I asked said essentially over 15 a minute. Nuff’ said. (One also told me that he had only seen one! chicken with a sheila in over a year!)

There’s another tshuva about buying a shifcha from India so that a mamzer can marry her, but I don’t remember where it is offhand.

Joseph – while that is true, it’s also right after they started going out. It’s pretty rare in the chareidi world to get engaged before the fourth date (though I do have several friends who did so).

Was this chasana in Bnei Brak or Yerushalayim? As far as I can tell from all of the chasanas I’ve been to, it’s the stam minhag in bnei brak while normally not in Yerushalayim.

Only if they are really over the top. Otherwise it just looks like a bad attempt.

I’d be tempted to go for har sinai, but I’d probably go for Yetzias Metzraim because that way I could do zechirah better.

Watching the faces of the shvatim by ani yosef sounds good too, though.

I considered putting that in the rules, but thought it was obvious, so I left it out. Once I’m at it, I’ll add that you can’t look up anything online or in indexes, but can look in a tanach if you get stuck.

What’s the similarity between a clone and a golem, exactly? If we were talking about robot, I hear. But a clone is essentially an I.V. twin – what’s the basis of this whole discussion?

Try to make it so that not only is it accepted for all balabatim to have a night seder, try to make it be that those who don’t are the exception. Having a kehila that is based on Torah really seems to be the only way to go. I would probably say that to do something like this it would have to start with the rabbanim pushing for it after speaking to a sizable portion of their kehila first, as well as having a well-stocked beis medresh, but I don’t have any concrete ideas for how to do this exactly. Do you?

EVERYTHING is a halacha thread (or at least it should be). (Except for maybe the jokes, although the jokes based on sugyas are far funnier)

@TLIK – Would you accept that it is possible that there are some times that something like that would be acceptable, to anyone? If so, a reporter should have to say what their reasoning is.

And Josef, I have to say, that would explain a LOT, if it is true. Where do you get that from?

@LC – I don’t have any sfarim on me right now, but the gemara in in Zvachim around daf nun. If you want, I can try to find where exactly these tshuvos are; its been a few years. Do you want me to look?

First of all, that the chicken came first is a gemara in R”H on daf 11: – Likomasan Nivrau, they were created fully formed.

Second, without basing anything on evolution there is no reason to call chickens dinosaurs.

And, while this isn’t the place to argue about evolutionary theory fitting in with the Torah, I just have to ask: why do you want to believe in evolution? Because you definitely can’t convince me that by purely going through Chazal you came out that that was Chazal’s maskana.

Can we please stop having posted based on evolutionary thought? I know that no one here would say that they believe in evolution, but if you don’t then you aren’t having “dinosaur chicken”, it is chicken, which is all that it ever was (and the chicken came first, not the egg). “a lot of traits associated with your fun dinosaurs still exist within the DNA of birds” – please realize what you are saying.

Oh, and what does that Tiferes Yisrael have to do with anything? (He does mention dinosaur bones but… so?)

“I recall that its much worse, one who believes in nothing has no Tikun, whereas A”Z he still believes in a concept of a G-D but in a form of Shitfus etc. thus he can still have a Tikun.”

Where are you getting this from?

I would try to insist on things like this, but whenever I would try, the person on the other end would get all offended and I would wonder if I was messing up a shidduch just because of the mother’s interrogationing habits, and people seem to take snarky responses as a refusal to answer and as the worst possible response…

RY – We really don’t think of each other like that. I mean, yes, some people have obvious scars and things like that, but really, that’s all that any of us would notice.
