whatever you decide to do, remember that shana rishona is not always accomplished in a year. it can take two or three, and it does not always start in the first year. some only wake up 3, 4 5 or more years into their marriage . i mean wake up and decide they want to become one with their spouse(the purpose of shana rishona)and stop thinking so much about ‘ME’ .shana rishona starts when you start WORKING on your marriage.(for those who are not yet married being married is hard work al pi the torah- hard work at developing your midos) so….the faster you both decide that you are going to take care of each other like you take care of yourself, the faster you have laid the first brick in the foundation of your marriage. i wish you much hatzlacha in building a lovely home where the shechina can dwell between you both.

well its good that the pictures are usually in a link so you can decide whether to see them or not. i am sure that ywn knows how many ‘hits’ different pictures get and if less people click, they wont post as many accidents. so stop clicking them (if you do). but its news so if you dont want to be in the news, drive safe.

smartcookie, no terrorist would settle for 7 people unless he knew them and wanted revenge or something. they usually think big and try and go for bigger numbers unfortunately.

myfreind, in private let them forgive him if they have strong emuna. thats fine with me. but careless driving is why they sat shiva on 7 relatives and they should show displeasure at the poor drivers poor judgment. it was not hashem behind the wheel. they should make it known that they hold him accountable, not dump it on hashem. its the wrong message.

again, they are entitled to forgive and be freindly with the driver, but in public such a forgiving attitude can plant a dangerous seed in the in the sub sub sub conscious of many a driver, one that says that says hey , ‘its not so bad if you kill a whole family or if you dont drive carefully because you MAY be forgiven by them in the end’. i am not really asking that they should openly condemn him as a rasha, but the family’s reaction is being watched by millions of israelis and i feel that if a more unforgiving reaction would cause just ONE DRIVER to to be more careful for just ONE SECOND, that could save a life or a busload of lives. i think they have an achrayus to zibur more than a yochid, the driver

    # 2 Sacrilege. jewish music has been steadily becoming less and less ‘jewish sounding’ over the past two decades. goyishe songs are being integrated with the jewish songs (alternative yofyofisa for example)and this is bringing us closer and closer to goyishe culture without us even realizing it. sure the kids want this kind of music. but in a generation where the singers are so looked up to, its the singers and composers MORAL OBLIGATION to pull in the other direction, not wimp out and say “what can i do this is the kind of music they want i must give it to them” just like if your butcher was selling treif its not loshon hara to warn people, here too its a mitzvah to tell people that they can choose not to allow their children to be fed traife music. i am also proud that jewish kids are singing psukim in 2010 , but why to the tune of goyisha songs? lets try and foresee the future. is it not obvious that its going down hill?

bein hasdorim. are you trying to say that the rav its trying to make money from this? he is fighting for kvod shomayim and he is doing it lshem shomayim. all the singers he is against sing in mixed crowds. where are the heteirim for this? the fact that we (myself incl) cant live without music? thats not a heter. how can a song from a current, leading pop artist be incorporated into a jewish song (‘yofyofisa’) and be labeled an ‘alternative’ version without people getting up and shouting GEVALD!!? where is the music headed, and where are the singers leading us?

it hurts me as much as you and maybe more (i am a music addict) but i see where all this is going and i owe it to the rav.he is right. its time for an overhaul. the jewish music industry is a business selling a product that affects out neshomas , just like the Jewish food industry is selling products that affect our neshamas. both need to be supervised.

and yes..chazal say avira deretz yisrael is machkim. so even the air can have a hashpo’a on our neshamas. so i for one will buy a bottle of the yerushalmi air you are selling. but it does not need a hechsher . it has chazals already. but the jewish music that has evolved today into an ugly monster does not.

rav yitschak has posted a video from the concert in rechovot on monday on his website shofar (fifth item from the top on the hebrew homepage) that blew me away in terms of what a concert can cause our youth to be exposed too. i wanted to know what the CR tzibur thought about it.

its been reported that one singer has come forth so far and accepted rebuke from rav amnon yitzchak and a beis din in addition to agreeing to comply with certain rules about his performances, so it looks like his tactic is working somewhat.. but there is a big show in rechovot this monday, and the rav of the city has already voiced his objection. i think this is the first major show since rav yitzchak announced his ban. lets see what happens

charlie hall- thats chosson’s point exactly. soap that doesnt need a hechsher has one and music that does need a hechsher does not.

mamashtakah i will explain. i think that before upgrading the buses with wifi, they should install an automatic fare machines. because drivers should be doing just that- DRIVING ONLY- not giving change and punching tickets, selling bus tickets AND driving. its not safe.

    safety 1st.

well it also is a big time waster.at a bus stop with many passengers waiting, its takes a long time until they all get on so the bus can start moving again. not to mention the fuel wasted. Israel has developed so much technology, and they cant put an electronic device in the buses to take the fare from the passengers?

mybat, i don’t think the rabbi believes that he will succeed in shutting down the whole industry. that is impossible. As you and others have said its a good kosher outlet and its here to stay.

i think he has more realistic goals in mind, but needs to go to the extreme in order to attain them.

in the long run i think his efforts will pay off and add more kedusha to am yisroel and make the singers and their music more jewish sounding.

cb1- recently a version of ‘yofyofisa’ was released for sfira that incorporated a current goyishe song into it. then they labeled it the ‘alternative’ yofyofisa! the chutzpa! for me personally, i get a creepy feeling when i hear the young voices on that track singing such a current, goyishe tune. less recently ‘titanic’ was incorporated onto a jewish tape without the words (of course!?) and i am sure many here in the CR can add lots more to the list.

if you are a music producer you surely know many many more. the time has come for the jewish music industry to ‘face the music’ and admit that its gotten out of hand.

a relative of mine was at a concert in eretz yisroel and they introduced a singer there as ‘ the king of jewish pop!’ no less. jewish pop. do your kids know what pop is?

fabie- thanks for the link. its feels so good to hear the truth even though it hurts. i hope i can make some type of change for myself because i have a good ear for, and love music.

bp totty, we are influencing him with the beats and sounds we got from other goyim! he is singing foreign words to familiar beats, and we sing familiar words to foreign beats!

i started this post because i listen to music all the time and it puts me in a good mood. i heard the rav was against all music and all singers and was very upset but i went to his website to hear him out anyway. well i am glad i did because he taught this music fan a thing or two.(no i am not going to break my cd’s but now i do understand where he is coming from)

he is saying that after the destruction of the beis hamikdash its not poshut to listen to music ‘stam azoi’. i was thinking about his words and while i cant live without music, i do see that our music resembles goyishe music, it makes us move like goyim, and it keeps us busy- so many times i find myself listening to music when i can just as easily pop in a torah cd. dovid hamelech says ‘lulei torosecha shashuai’ i as a yeshiva person, should be ‘meshasheaya’ myself with torah in my earphones more than music, not the other way around!

true its my bechirah what to listen to when , but the whole industry has evolved in a way that it is overpowering and i feel that maybe some kids today would have a better chance at learning to get close to the eibishter through learning, as opposed to a nigun. because in the end of the day, the two ways to get close to hashem cannot be compared.

there is a video on the tube that someone took of rav elyashiv shlita learning alone in his house. see it . then tell me if rav yitschak is not right by trying to tame the music scene. we have the real thing so why would we allow the jewish music industry to teach our children to worship singers and music like goyim?

for those who dont know who he is go to Wikipedia and learn about this amazing rav and what he has accomplished till now in terms of kiruv . to see just how seriously he is fighting to change the Jewish music scene go to his website. its called shofar. for example at last night’s shiur he broke popular jewish music cd’s and called on everyone to do the same.also last night he showed a video from a (NY?) chasuna where an African American was invited on the stage to sing ‘ binyan adei ad’ to show how our music is influenced by goyim. bkitzur he means business and he has other rabbonim backing him. he also mentioned a kol korei from 10 years ago where all the gedoilim banned concerts.
