Its simply wrong.
Now watch the religious leftists yell, mekor mekor mekor.
Its simply wrong.
JosephParticipantFrankly I’ll rely more on Mr. Schwab’s definitive conclusions, who aside from being far more experienced than yourself, is a criminal defense attorney. I don’t know what your specialty is — perhaps fighting traffic tickets? And did you not graduate Illinois only in ’07? If not advise us the number of years of practice, so we can compare it to a retired criminal defense attorney and make our judgements.

Like BYM said, we ARE superior; its not just a feeling.
JosephParticipantintelligent – copy that equation to the riddle thread. (I’m away from a computer now, and don’t want to leave you breathless too long… 🙂
JosephParticipantHave you *ever* not “doubted” your opinion is wrong?
And please do explain how calling Mr. Schwab, “Schwabbie” is NOT ad hominem.
JosephParticipantThe Big One,
Wow, not only were you right – he proved it immediately with his negative response! After being disproven he suddenly goes ad hominem, calling him “Schwabbie” when all else failed!
And get this one – he “disagrees” with an experienced attorney! And his experience is exactly what?
JosephParticipantBYM:
Beautifully stated!!
What I’ve been saying with some others all along…

I’m glad everything came out okay. Where you forced to move out, and are you by relatives? What property was lost?
December 10, 2008 5:55 am at 5:55 am in reply to: The Yetzer Hara of Bitul Zman – Online – Internet Addiction? #1076977JosephParticipantQueen: Surely. Maybe I’m totally nuts, but I think you should go with your husband and son to a Yeshiva, without any appointment, and demand to see the Rosh Yeshiva and wait there however long necessary to see him, and plead your case.
JosephParticipantWhere did you folks initially find this site?
JosephParticipantasdfghjkl – how’d such an American history buff like you end up getting stuck in Ireland of all places?
JosephParticipantICOT, correct. And divide the annual salary you quoted, 31,108, by 12 for the monthly allowance of 2592.33.
Dr. Pepper, you took another route to get there; I believe the final step is missing.

JosephParticipantEvery month, a girl gets allowance. Assume last year she had no money, and kept it up to now. Then she spends 1/2 of her money on clothes, then 1/3 of the remaining money on games, and then 1/4 of the remaining money on toys. After she bought all of that, she had $7777 left. Assuming she only gets money by allowance, how much money does she earn every month?
JosephParticipantbrooklyn19: Merriam-Webster, and I believe Oxford, added “google” as a recognized English word a couple of years ago.
JosephParticipantICOT: Put look what happened to that rock… and look where it got Rebbe Akiva!
JosephParticipantThank you Chuck Schwab.
illini, for the umpteenth time, everyone is excluding the combination of alcohol with driving.
JosephParticipantICOT:
Perhaps this is easier to follow…
HM = Human, HR = Horse
HM + HR = 74
2HM + 4HR = 196
(2HM + 4HR) – (2 HM + 2HR) = 196 – 148
2HR = 48
HR = 24
HM + (24) = 74
HM = 74 – 24
HM = 50
24 horses and 50 humans.

JosephParticipantThank You brooklyn19. You speak words of wisdom.
JosephParticipantThere is a Main Street on Roosevelt Island, which is technically part of Manhattan.
JosephParticipantasdfghj – Manhatan DOES have a main St.
Btw, shouldn’t you be doing IRISH trivia?
JosephParticipantTake it easy illini, with all your errors. As you well now see, the singles are picking up the cue…
JosephParticipantIn summation, I’d like to offer everyone a large
L’CHAIM!!!!!
JosephParticipantillini,
Bottom line is you are mistaken. It doesn’t mention any religions specific holiday by name, but it clearly covers Purim. It isn’t even a legal debate.
Additionally, I believe there have been NO prosecutions in the State of New York in the past 60 years of a Frum underage drinker on Purim, that did not involve an automobile. And I assure there has been much Frum underage drinking, as per halacha, EVERY one of the last 60 years in the Great State of New York. AND I can assure you it will continue unabated, up to the point of ad dloi yoda. (Remember, I exclude anything involving an automobile.)
JosephParticipantabcd, click on the hours ago under Freshness on the main CR page, and it will take you directly to the last page of the thread AND DIRECTLY to the most recently approved post on that page.
I do agree with those above requesting MORE posts per page. Perhaps unlimited if possible, otherwise 50 or 100.
JosephParticipantSee my previous comment. NY & NJ, as nearly all States, DO have religious exemptions. And it does cover Purim. This exemption is all encompassing.
JosephParticipantillini,
You didn’t provide the context for that Illinois law. I don’t know what it prohibits in the first place. I did check New York and New Jersey law, and Purim is fully covered.
Additionally, in case of conflict between Shulchan Aruch (including YOUR Rabbi’s interpretation thereof – not necessarily every conflicting shitta) and secular law, Shulchan Aruch triumphs.
JosephParticipantillini,
1. The religious exemption is NOT limited to sacramental wine.
2. You only need one good faith religious requirement to demonstrate qualification for the exemption. The many mainstream mekors above are more than sufficient. No court will go near analyzing conflicting religious opinions, nor will attempt to force a religious man who says he holds his Rabbi’s shitta to drink ad dloi yoda is binding.
JosephParticipantbrooklyn – you can click on the time (hours ago) on the main page of the CR, to go directly to the last page of a thread.
JosephParticipantanon,
I just checked your States (New Jersey) law, and the religious exemption to the alchol law is not limited in quantity. (And this is generally the same for all States religious exemptions.)
Considering the numerous Mekors I provided above, specifically detailing how much alchol should be consumed on Purim, it can easily be demonstrated that the quantity consumed was for religious purposes.
END OF DISCUSSION.
JosephParticipantanon, I do believe that intelligent (oops) was being facetious regarding the spelling of her screen name.
JosephParticipantanon,
You did not address my points in my previous comment. Again, in the majority of U.S. States, the law prohibits PURCHASING alchol by those under 21, NOT CONSUMPTION.
I fully advocate following Shulchan Aruch, no ifs ands or buts.
JosephParticipantillini, perhaps the moderators were a bit overworked and sometimes their finger was on the delete key as they were passing your comments…?
JosephParticipantanon,
The age of 21 is unique to the US, which has the highest legal age in the civilized world. In France, Switzerland, Germany, etc. its 16, and 18 in other countries.
And in the US, there are exemptions for underage drinking for religious reasons (by States that prohibit it otherwise.) Additionally, in most States [including New York State] the law prohibits those under 21 from PURCHASING (and public possession of) alchol, it does NOT prohibit DRINKING alchol by those under 21.
JosephParticipantanon, answer this please. are you opposed to a father of children < 21 making kiddush with alchol, since he will then serve the alchol from kiddush to his children?
JosephParticipantillini07, perhaps, is it at all possible, that you weren’t banned per se, it is just that the tenor of your comments are inappropriate for a Torah site?
JosephParticipantanon,
If someone is, or will be, driving he should not be anywhere near alchol. This is so obvious, I’m shocked you even asked. Pikuach Nefesh is ALWAYS first.
JosephParticipantnoitallmr, where you want to start the bold type:
<
then:
strong
then:
>
(no spaces)
where you want to end the bold, do the same as above, but instead of strong, type /strong
(to use italics, replace strong with em )
JosephParticipantWhoever claimed to be a talmid chochom??
Besides, if I’m the editor, this is pashut a matter of parnassa…
JosephParticipantWest Larry?
JosephParticipantDr. Pepper,
Excellento! Correct mathematicaly on both questions. Though the only place in the world with equal Fahrenheit and Celsius is Antarctica.
JosephParticipantillini07, unless I’m mistaken, squeak meant what he said in his last sentence.
JosephParticipantnoitallmr, Listen, I never claimed to know everything!
JosephParticipantRandom Question #3:
What is the sum of the coefficients of
( [3x – 3x^2 +1]^744 ) x ( [- 3x + 3x^2 +1]^745 ) ?
JosephParticipantWhat place in this world can have their temperatures Fahrenheit and Celsius equal?
JosephParticipantOne day, a person went to horse racing area, Instead of counting the number of human and horses, he instead counted 74 heads and 196 legs. Yet he knew the number of humans and horses there. How did he do it, and how many humans and horses are there?
JosephParticipantNu, lets hear more reasons Why Yidden are the BEST!
