We can look at Elul as someone borrowing on installments. If he waits to pay off the loan at the end, it is very hard, so he should pay it off in installments. Similarly, our debt to Hashem for our sins can be paid off through teshuva at different installment times, every night, once a week, once a month or at the end of the year Elul. It aso accumulates. Don’t wait to your last day of life because we don’t know when it will be.

Philosopher, if you think you know everything like our president, you don’t ask advice from everyone and you end up making mistakes. For this reasoh the mishna says at the end of Kidushin that the best of the doctors belong in the gehinom. The Beis Hilel only revealed their view after hearing from the Beis Shamai because of their great humility in order to arrive to the truth.

Sam Klein, look at the first darush of the Yaaeos Devash and the mashel brought by the Chayei Adam on Erev Yon Kippur that if we don’t do mitzvos properly or our tefilas can be grabbed away by outside sources, so we need intermediaries whose tefilas are more readily accepted. We don’t know the proper kavonos.

Sam Klein, by birchas kohanim why do we need a kohen? He is a conduit when we are not worthy to be answered directly by Hashem. By the Aigal, Hashem directly spoke to them by kabolas hatorah, so they did not need an intermediary to replace Moshe Rabbenu. Similarly, the Rebbe is a conduit.

Having shalom bayis is a nisayon. The Mezuzah is put up slanted. There are two views, horizontal and vertical. We make a compromise to satisfy both views, This is something that both the bride and groom should keep in mind when they enter the house. The wedding is called nisuyin which means elevation. Each one of the mates should elevate the other by putting each other on a pedestal.

קשה זוויגו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף the matching of a person with their mate is as great as the splitting of the sea. Explains the Chidushei Harim that splitting of the sea was unexpected, similarly to parnasa the shidduch comes unexpected. We must apply our effort but we don’t know if it will bear fruits, so we must pray for it. To have children, there is segulah to wear the hebrew letter ‘heh’ הא לכם זרע.

To understand why Mincha: Eliyahu Hanovi was answered at mincha time. It reflects the poor worker who designates time when he is very busy, by sacrificing his time to Hashem showing love to Him, as the poor sacrifices his small sacrifice which is accepted by Hashem as the greatest sacrifice. This is the time to pray for what one requires most. He gives up some of his needs and Hashem fullfils all of his needs.

The prayer above about finding a mate is applied to Yaakov Avinu, who wanted to sit and learn without worries for his livelihood as he went to Lavan poor without a penny. Elifaz cleaned him out from his wealth in order to obey his father Aisov’s command to kill him, and by making him poor he fulfiled his father’s wishes.

CS, it can be found in a Sefer Maharam Sofer from the nephew of Rav Chaim Sofer (Machnei Chaim) student of the Chasam Sofer in a different fashion for someone who wants to sit and learn and be supported through the wife. If she is G-d sent, you can have your cake and eat it, by her having a business and you sitting and learning.

There are two times that the redemption can come, if it comes the fixed time, then we must have a king as harsh as Haman to force us into teshuva whereas if we want the redemption earlier, then we have to yearn for it with a full heart by making teshuva from love by most of the Bnei Yisroel as stated in the Sefer Beis Elokim from the Mabit. This is what we say maybe in the Mi Sheberach, healing of the spirit, teshuva, or healing of the body by forcing it into teshuva.

עולם כמנהגו נוהג sometimes we are not worthy of miracles of being saved. סכנה חמורי מאיסורי a danger requires more stringency than an issur. Hashem creates the refuah before the makah because once the makah comes, we might not be worthy to be saved. לעולם יתפלל אדם שלא יחלה a person should daven not to become sick because he might not be worthy to be healed.

In order to arrive to the truth in learning you have to listen to opposite views as the Beis Hilel listened to the Beis Shamai first because of their humility. Trump fires his adversaries, so he ends up with tunnel vision. Rebbi Yochanan missed Rash Lokish because he asked kashyes on his statement which created רווחא דשמעתתא expansion of our understanding.

It is important that a Brisker Chakira should make a difference in halacha not just the Rambam whom we don’t always follow. An example is the meaning of שומע כעונה. If it means that ir makes you speak, the problem is , how can you be yotze megilla when you don’t have one personally? We must say that your speaking from the mouth of the baal koreh who has a megilla, so you don’t need one yourself. They say that the kohen can be motzei another kohen in duchenen but he must also raise his hands. Raising the hands is a physical part of the mitzva whereas holding a kos is not. So you don’t need a kos to be yotze kiddush from someone else.
