Shucks Dovv!!:) I have a gigantic test to study for so I’ll head over there rather than spend time finding out that you’re not the one who sits behind me in school!

With the non-jewish teachers you can have quite a ball! My friend told me that their class told their teacher one chanuka that due to the holiday they can’t write or have homework. The only problem came when the principal found out about that one… Why do they always end up spoiling everything!:)

Naah Dovv-too studious!:) I can’t start studying for my test. Heeeeelp! I already failed one today cuz I didn’t bother studying. How many more can I fail and for how long is the computer the only place that understands me when I say that I CAN’T study????!!!!!!!

in reply to: iPad — Kosher? #685905

I think it’s totally crazy that nowadays every 12 year old is walking around with an ipod altogether! They’re spoiled kids! Maybe a teen can ask for something like an ipod or in that range but why anyone would give a thirteen year old kid this little screen that he can access practically anything in the world on is beyond me. I simply don’t understand why people complain about their kids being spoiled or going off if this is what they’re giving. I think a nice set of sefarim is something to give for a bar mitzva-not ipods and surely not an ipad. (even teens are massively spoiled if they’re getting ipads-they’re a fortune!!!)

in reply to: Can’t Get Out of Bed in The Morning… #683533

Don’t exercise or use any electronics within an hour or two of going to bed. Also, you can listen to soft music (I got a heter to listen during sfira cuz of problems falling asleep) on an ipod (although some say that they ruin your hearing). Also don’t get an alarm clock with a snooze button. I have one without it and so if I want to go back to sleep for even five minutes by the time I reset it i am fully awake.

Sometimes the boy isn’t necessarily interested in a girl who is so skinny(look at me and i’ll crumble) type but the mother only wants the skinniest, prettiest, etc. girl in the whole world. Sometimes it’s the shadchan who will say that the girl hasta be so skinny. Funny enough, I know 3 girls who had a difficult time with shidduchim because the boys weren’t interested in a girl who is so frail looking. B”H they are now married but all of them married skinny, bonny, etc. boys. Not always will that happen at all but sometimes the boys are actually not even the problem

in reply to: Ripped Off Working In Camps #685733

I just heard of a camp paying $90 a half for jcs and 1,000 a half for regulars. It may not be tops in pay but you get all trips and overnights free plus you can have a blast with friends. A lot depends on the camp and the campers (how difficult they are).

in reply to: Eating Disorders #686501

Many times it’s also overeating disorders. I am actually close to someone who used to have an overeating disorder. She was constantly being told off about her weight and she one day decided to diet. She started dieting to the extent that we all thought she was anorexic. We referred her to a special doctor who recommended a certain food plan for people with disorders. B”H she is now loosing weight in a healthy way. That’s all the girls need. They don’t need to be starving themselves “for shidduchim”. Some girls are lucky and can eat whatever they want but girls who do need to watch shouldn’t be starving themselves.

I know another girl who I just came to realize on my own that she probably has anorexia. Someone pointed out to me that the girl will go a day without eating lunch or snacks. Maybe she’ll eat a tiny breakfast and some supper but for the rest of the day eats nothing. Once in a while she’ll eat a bag of junk because of a lack of energy. I doubt she herself even realizes that she’s so skinny that you’d think by looking at her she’ll crumble. I don’t think her parents know about this either.

in reply to: Double Parking #720671

Wolfish musings-your reasoning is valid besides for when the whole brooklyn also seems to have a valid excuse to double park. Thank G-d i’m from out of town and we don’t have this crazy problem. I have visited brooklyn and hated it to pieces cuz of the crazy traffic, rush, and pressure.

Last night I heard an interview with the son of Mr. Rubashkin. It’s so sad.

True Bas Yisroel- very true but they can’t make peace with the fact that they’re alone and they can’t settle for a life like that. Yeah, be positive. But most of the time when a person says they’re happy to be single it means that they don’t plan on getting married.

in reply to: Night Snack #683600

What do you do if you’re plain and simply in the mood of fressing?! I’m trying to diet but it takes an awful lot of self control not to eat when you’re just “in the mood”. I chew gum but how much gum can you chew?!

in reply to: Shidduchim: Girls & Size Zeros #880333

Unfortunately, too many people in our time are more interested in beauty and looks than health. Do you really think that all these nose jobs are good for you? All these surgeries people do for their skin to be smooth; All these internal medicines people are on for pimples (some can cause liver damage). It should depend on the boy if he wants someone anorexic or not. Too many times it’s the mother who says no to a good shidduch that the boy would say yes to because she’s not a toothpick.

in reply to: Lots of Spare Time #682518

Nothing with procrastinating but spare time in moderation is fine. After that it leads to eating and for all those dieters……yikes!!

in reply to: Shidduchim: Girls & Size Zeros #880327

Stiving- well then, what solution can you come up with to this problem? What would you tell the shadchan that called me last night about a certain girl who is a size 6?

in reply to: Sholom Rubashkin #687133

i signed the petition already and all we could really do is send money to the ppl helping him and DAVEN!

in reply to: Night Snack #683594

DON’T EAT!! its not worth it. I recently started dieting and the only three meals i eat r breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also have two other snacks in the day. NEVER will I allow myself to eat at 5am.

in reply to: Ripped Off Working In Camps #685706

My friend worked last year as a mother’s helper for some local people and made something like 1,000 for one half. She worked just a few hours a day with some easy kids. When a counselor is working from 9-4 and taking care of tonz of campers (kvetchy ones!) she deserves a lot more than what people tend to get. Sleepaway camp is a different story altogetehr!
