I think that you can probably safely post the name of the publication without any kids running to check it out. I’m 15, and I guess that makes me young. If I wanted to read something inappropriate (and I’m not entirely sure that this article would qualify as inappropriate) I would be on the NY Times web sight – not on YWN.

WH is Washington Heights – I guess that it’s not the only place they play football in the snow – although in my neighborhood (older neighborhood in Monsey…) there arent too many games of anything happening in the streets, and there is never too much buildup of snow in the streets here either…so since I knew they played football in the streets in WH today I was wondering if u were part of that.

    Brooklyn?

My mother pushed me ahead – I turned 5 in the end of February of Pre1A. I dont think it really made a difference – and anyway I still wouldnt have been the “top of the class” even if I had been with the grade younger. The youngest girl in the grade was 2 months younger than me (she skipped a grade)……and BTW both of us were pretty near the “top of the class”.

chesedname – I dont think that having someone run a camp at cost price is a practical solution. In life you have to make choices about how to spend your money, but asking others to give you LUXURIES at cost price isnt reasonable. 1000 years ago everything worked with trade and there was no money, so when you traded your potatoes for your neighbor’s carrots you were getting the carrots at cost price. Nowadays though that wouldnt work – everyone sells their services at a profit.

Also, cost price of camps is pretty high too so if you cant afford what it is now there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to afford cost price

(BTW there are camps like Sternberg which give a lot of scholarships)

I’d assume you mean your internet explorer homepage – for that you click on tools which is in the bottom right corner of the whole bar on top, and then click on Internet options and figure it out from there…

Philosopher – when all else fails you have to bring up the topic of men’s reaction to women dressed provocatively. This thread is called “Breach in Tznius: Recent affliction attacking Klal Yisroel” in other words, girls are dressing wrongly already – they’ve all heard the speech on self dignity, apparently they’ve chosen to ignore it. You have to explain to the girls that it’s not ONLY about self dignity, but rather that they also have a responsibility not to provoke guys. Maybe they dont really understand fully why they can’t just say “OK, so I don’t have self dignity – now I’ll dress however I want”

if the mens thing had never been discussed I wouldve said i want to look pretty – i dont care about self respect. I’m still not perfect – but it helped to learn about that

philosopher – but then what do you say when a girl says “tznius is about self respect – ok, so I have none, now why shouldnt I wear my mini skirt outside”?

someone said this to me when I was trying to convince her that she cant go outside in a mini skirt.

Oomis – I dont know about such mothers cuz my mom is not at all uncomfortable, but I don’t think it’s right to even say that it’s the school’s responsibility. I dont think that a classroom is the appropriate place to discuss these things. You should see what it’s like trying to teach Parshas… (someone help me out here – which Parsha is it again that talks about the tum’ah after a baby?)

“For some reason girls dont understand what happens to men when they see women dressed provocatively unless they are told. The schools have a responsibility and obligation to tell them. Im not sure why they dont when it seems so obvious that they should.”

Why’s it the school’s responsibility to tell this to the girls? You’ve obviously never been in a 9th/10th grade girls classroom – girls that age are not so mature. I think that it’s the mother’s responsibility to tell her daughter these things.

OK…. so I’m a hypocrite….after telling everyone that it’s funny when they respond to MosheRose’s nonsense I’m going to do just that.

Shalom Rubashkin was found not guilty on the charges of hiring underage/illigal(??) workers, he was convicted on the charges of bank fraud.

AinOhdMilvado – when you buy a book/cd/dvd then it becomes yours and you can do whatever you want with it BESIDES reproducing it. Nobody can stop you from lending it out – as long as you only have one copy of the thing. With a book that’s not a problem because nobody copies books, but with cds/dvds you can only lend them out if you dont have it on our ipod or you dont have a backup that you plan to use while your friend has the original.

if she wants to deny it fine but i would like to think that in the confusion of the moment she left ( she did cause the accident whether she hit me or not) and after she has had time to reflect that she would welcome the opportunity to come to me personally w/o any involvent of the authorities and we would come to terms.

well what happened was she came into my lane causing me to swerve off the road totaling the car (b’h not me, im fine). It happened so fast that i am not sure if she actually hit me or not. I was told that she stopped on the side and that somebody suggested to her to leave She would know if she hit me because she would have damage on her van. My car was banged up from sideswiping a tree so i can’t tell on my car

I took trig it was pretty easy. The probability question with the mens club and the vests is the only thing I for sure got wrong, I wrote my answer as a fraction instead of a decimal like they wanted.

With the correlation coeficient what was the answer – I wrote -.89 cuz I don’t think that you can go over 1 or less than -1.

Anyone remember what they got for the area of the paralellogram I know that I wrote 603 square feet

Oh, woops I read your post wrong – I got the right answer the first time I did it but then the second time when I put it into thousands I got it wrong – and now I got it wrong again

Note that the salaries are written in THOUSANDS, you have to add three zeroes at the end when entering it….even so my decimal is three places off I’m not sure why that is though

In my brother’s school the boys hung up a Haman at the doorway to the school on Rosh Chodesh Adar. A guy passing by saw a guy hanging thru the window, and he called the police…..

The boys decided that Haman still needed to live a bit longer. That day a kid (I’ll call him Shuey) was absent so they put Haman, with a sweatshirt over his head and his head on the desk in Shuey’s seat. The first few rabbeim and teachers didn’t bother him, but the last period teacher said “Shuey, get up” when Shuey didn’t do anything, he went over to the”kid” and picked up his head-the class burst out laughing.

Meanwhile, another Rebbi and a kid (call him Moshe) were right outside the classroom, so the rebbi opened the door to the classroom and said “what’s so funny, Moshe?”, the teacher in the classroom said “no it’s Shuey”, so the Rebbi said “I know, he was sleeping the whole day”…..

Am I missing something-because I didn’t see where it says the ipad has parental controls? Also, even if it has parental controls – kids are usually a lot better with computers than their parents are, and many kids can get past different controls. the content adviser (internet explorer’s filter) for example, is worth nothing if your kid can install firefox.

Please continue this iPad discussion in the appropriate thread at:
