    Dear Jewishfeminist02,

    Halacha IS right and wrong.

I agree with that statement completely and if you give another example then I may agree with you, but the TV example is flawed. From a technical standpoint it IS assur to leave a TV on for the duration of Shabbos. There are 2 main areas of Shabbos observance, The ‘Zachor’ aspect and the ‘Shamor’ aspect. The ‘Shamor’ aspect deals with the ‘tangible’ rights and wrongs of shabbos (i.e. making a fire and tying a knot). The ‘Zachor’ which means to ‘Remember’ the Shabbos and respect it deals with the ‘abstract’ rights and wrongs of Shabbos which include for example not reading novels on Shabbos and not discussing ‘Sichas Chol’ (weekday topics – sports and Definitely business) This is all brought down Very Clearly in Halacha so let us not waste time debating it. The fact of the matter is that leaving a TV, which although is not part of the 39 melachos, which again are the ‘Shamor’ part, the Torah also says ‘Zachor’ and that means that it is ASSUR to do things that are ‘Uvdah Dechol’ (Weekday Pursuits).

So, a TV, which Clearly falls under that category, is Completely ASSUR Min Hatora contrary to popular belief. Gud Shabbos!

I would like to discuss this from a boys perspective. In response to the girl wanting to know whether her future chassan is just “sitting” in yeshiva: You can allow your father to do that and if he cant, find another male to “farher” him. Any average “sitter” can fool even the most learned girl- even those who learned in these gemarakup seminaries.

To Jewish feminist: Your right men and women have equal roles in a marriage. The role for men is to either provide (yes they help out around the house) or learn, depending on who the man is. The women’s role is basicaly household needs and raising the children (w/ the mans help of course) or working so her husband can learn. Yes women can learn light material but my rosh said the geder is they should not learn as yeshiva bochurim do. REASON: logicaly the reason is b/c man is more logical and focuses better. Women are more emotional thus conflicting with the idea that toras emes can only come without biasm. Ergo women can focus and pay att to everything around them and men can’t (as well). And even for those who say im diff. g’zunt ah heyt. Lo plug. B/c its not why they cant learn rather you see a proof from the fact that are mids work differently are tafkidim are different. With that in mind i would still love to marry someone who enjoys nice light torahdika convos at our shabbos table BH.

Most of these threads are people stating their opinions on gray matter. But to start arguing based on complete ignorance. Why dont we leave the arguing to the more knowledgeble?

All i know about moshiach is that when he comes i better be on gods good side because most of klal yisroel will be wiped out. Just b/c hashem promised klal yisroel he would save them that does’nt include every individual. So instead of guessing when hes coming, cuz if he comes now were all in trouble! So stop guessing and prepare. Im not giving mussar just advice. Our time to do teshuva is limited. We wont be negal b/c we figured out when hes coming. The only thing we will have accomplished would be knowing when hashem will decide our fate. Now how does that knowledge help us on the day of judgement? Having in mind you can’t do aveiros just b/c you know youl do teshuva. So good luck to all and have a kasiva v’chasima tova by the big day. 🙂 (lol I know im like one of those guys in Manhattan holding those signs “Repent the end is near”.

You know what everyones right lets marry an obese girl b/c if we don’t its considered shallow on top of that she can be stuipid and etc.. Listen girls want a guy who learns well and/or can support. Why is that not shallow? well mabye b/c im gonna be stuck with a pashuta yid, or live in the dumps. Well the only women im ever going to be with the only one im ever going to love is my wife. No but your right what about the girls its not fair to them! So just like we try to make money (srry girls we learn for god not you) so we can enjoy our life in this world. So to if you cared about your life youl try your best with what god gave you to make yourself wanted. The shidduch crisis has nothing to do with the shallowness of today. Its the Feminist Pigs (LEFTISTS) who tell the girls not to loose weight just to spite everyone (why is it beis yaakov girls tend to lok better than modern girls) well its only hurting you.

I must add that I agree with tohighschoolguy that this is not the place cuz although we dont shun questions (see my earlier post) we dont look for questions. Our questions may end up defining us so we dont look for questions. There may be unassuming teenagers reading this coffeeroom which my now have questions swirling around in their heads without competent people involved in their lives there to answer them. I know for myself that alot of the negative exposure I had came from indirect venues. I do not want to start a whole forum on sheltering, lets please keep to the topic at hand. See internet and etc (another coffee room) for that issue.

I agree with gitty”s sentiments on not discussing religion during this coffee break. I just like to make a few points and recommendations. (Disclaimer- this is textual based so please hold of on your cynicsm until Im through) In the beginning of creation, god was there. He came to adam and adam knew there was a god. Fast forward a couple generations noah knew there was a god. Remember he came to him, or didnt he? Shem and Ever, two grat scholars mentioned in the generations between noah and avraham alo knew there was a god. So waht was Avraham credited for? What was his new revelation? If it was know so long before him, how was he original? To answer this glaring question, I qoute a rashi. Rashi tells of how avraham looked into the world and saw there was a god. SEEING is a strong concept. Every jewish nursery student knows how avraham looked up at the sun and stars and and oceans and trees and all the other butiful hugongous things in the whole wide world and saw there was a god (nursery spelling added for

emphasis). What do we see from this whole story? What is the deeper meaning of this fable? Rashi tells us that Avraham saw in the raw physical world- GOD. He saw god. He didnt just believe, he saw. Judaism isnt accredited to admam and eve, but rather avraham. Why? Because he came up with the novel idea of actually seeing not only believing. This rashi teaches us many lessons. But I will choose to focus on two. 1) Judaism is based on a dual personality: tradition/belief/mesora AND, I stress, and reality/seeing/understanding. Avraham saw, lets take his lead and try to see for ourselves. 2) Although we may not understand, we dont have to be afraid of brainwashing because rashi tells us that judaism is about your own SEEING. If you are ever giving an interiew you know I dont need an answer to all my questions as long as I see that the applicant isnt avoiding to give you answer that means there is an answer. So too here if you dont understandd the answer, know that there is an answer cuz rashi is telling us

is one. For all the cynics in this coffee room: I challenge you to look into the world like your forefather before you, to SEE the truth not just to believe. If you are having a hard time coming up with your own ideas you are in trouble because you dont trust anyone else. For everyone else: I refer you back to the nursery story before or on a more serious note Rabbi Avigdor Miller has an unbelievable series, including “awake my glory” and “Rejoice oh youth”. He describes vividly how to come to your own realizations. Beware: He may try to brainwash you so be really critical or you will fall into his trap. But only do this on the condition that you are open to his real concepts. To conclude, we are left with a glaring question. If judaism is seeing based why is there this concept of believing? Of the emperor’s clothes? You are the answer. There are those that assume that they unlike the “fools” before them know better. Many great jews fell in the line of duty aside for those that prospered as jews for a stupi

cause, one based on lies? This lie was so good, in fact, many genious minds failed to see the truth? For those geniuses in our midst, or can I say better optometrists, can you sell me those glasses? No!!!!!!! That is a resounding no!. I dont want your glasses because my BELIEF tells me that there answers. My BELIEF tells me that there is more than I can see. My BELIEF screams delve, explore, and see what hashem wants from us, for us and for all of mankind. It doesnt tell me to ignore it, or shun it. The torah tells us to see in the physical world, THE god. Know that we established there is a god go figure on your own which one to believe in. Thats a whole different argument but I can recommend an awesome read. Ever heard of Uri Zohar? He integrates humor cynicsm and everything else in your perspective. Suggestion for all. Even if you live and grew up frum, its awesome!!! Disclaimer, once again: He may try to brainwash you, but dont worry you now know that you can question, but keep in mind that there are

answers!! Hatzlacha to all, till next time. For all those that feel they need to daven for my mind to straighten out: I’ll include my hebrew name upon request….

Well if you found out god gives punishment and reward based on your fullfilment of his torah would you then come back b/c otherwise its an excuse, but if its not an excuse than just like you would find out if theres a test being given for wtvr subject so to go find out if there really is a test from hashem. B/c you shouldn’t become frum b/c anyone says too you should become frum only if the truth you find when you go looking is frumkiet. 🙂 You only get one life it might be worth it to see if your missing anything.

Gitty- I know im like the 100th person to comment. But im yeshiva bochur in israel for a 3rd year, and over the course of the years i encountered alot of fakeness and that the system was too strict. I like you felt free when it came to the secular world, why is it im still here learning??? In first year i got curious about our religion, whats so special why is our religion so strict and where’s the joy in it?? The difference between me and ppl that go off the derech is i learned to ask! Because if you really cared to know the truth about what is your purpose on this world and not just to waste it away enjoying a life till your 120 bh AND THEN WHAT?? I care about my life so i wanted to know why we are all here. To make money, to travel the world, etc.. i dont think so. And anyone who tells me he/she went off b/c they had question and they searched judiusm and found no answers then fine, But to go off and create questions to defend are excuses not questions. And to your comment that you only go with structure
