Friday, 09:15 IL: Posek HaDor Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv appears to have �lost consciousness� for a brief period a short time ago. It is unclear exactly what occurred, perhaps a syncopal episode.

From the limited information available at this time, it appears that EMTs and paramedics are in the rav�s home, checking on his condition. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

09:30 IL: According to information being released at this time from Rav Elyashiv�s home, following a consult with a physician, it has been decided not to transport the Posek HaDor to a hospital.

10:07 IL: Ichud Hatzalah EMTs were on the scene at the Posek HaDor�s Meah Shearim home along with MDA paramedics. They responded to a call that the Rav �lost consciousness for a brief moment�.

The Rav�s personal physician, Dr. Gavriel Muntar was summoned and after consulting with the doctor, it was decided the Rav will not be transported to a hospital. It appears the syncopal episode was the result of a sudden drop in the Rav�s blood pressure.
