Newest Monticello Police Department K-9 Team Graduates From K-9 Academy


mMonticello Police Officer Matthew Rohner and his K-9 partner “Deca”, graduated today Friday 7/10/15, from the 23RD Orange County Sheriff Office K-9 Basic Patrol School in Montgomery.

The training school consisted of 16 weeks of training. The team was trained in obedience, agility, article searches and evidence recovery, scent detection, building searches, tracking, criminal apprehension and handler protection.

The Monticello Police Department began its K-9 UNIT in 1995 and has been continuously serving the Village of Monticello for 20 years. PO Rohner and K-9 “Deca” will complete Narcotics detection training later this fall.

The new K-9 team joins PO john Calvello Jr and K-9 “Rocco” in patrolling the Village of Monticello.
