There was a small fire at Chabad World Headquarters on Friday morning.
The FDNY was called to 770 Eastern Parkway just after 9:30AM, after the smell of fire and smoke was seen in the basement of the building.
A tower ladder was put up to the roof as a precaution, and hoses were pulled into the building.
The FDNY says that the small fire (possibly electrical) was located in a basement utility closet.
Hundreds of people were in and around the building at the time, as thousands of Lubavitcher Chassidim come from around the world to Crown Heights for Tishrei every year. Hundreds were in the middle of Davening Shacharis when the incident occurred. The power was turned off in the main Bais Hamedrash, and people were evacuated.
Thankfully, there were no injuries.
