In an effort to save money, the US Postal Service (USPS) may alter its delivery schedule.
Under the proposed plan, the USPS would deliver first-class and priority mail by ground instead of air, which would save $1.1 billion annually on airline fuel and transportation costs—but also delay the delivery of mail items by approximately one day, according to a study commissioned by Inspector General David Williams.
USPS has seen a large decline in the number of items being sent through the mail due in part to more Americans paying bills, shopping, and of course, emailing on the Internet.
Any proposed delivery-schedule change would be announced after Labor Day, postal officials said.

NO MAIL is ever delivered by air – it is transported by air in some cases, but always delivered on the ground (obviously). Reducing sorting speed and deliveries would cut costs. Slower transportation would cut cost – and increase demand for Express and Priority (if they keep their “second” day promise).
Great idea, just shoot yourself in the foot and drive away the remaining business.
