UPDATE 9:05AM: Monsey: Large Fire At Adolph Schreiber Hebrew Academy

8:30AM EST: (UPDAE BELOW) There was a large fire overnight – at the Adolph Schreiber Hebrew Academy (ASHAR) located at 70 Highview Road in Rockland County, NY. The fire, which was reported at 3:15AM, drew more than 100 firefighters from several volunteer fire departments.

Fire Marshals are on the scene, and are trying to determine the cause of what is being called a “suspicious fire”.

According to the schools website: The Adolph Schreiber Hebrew Academy of Rockland is a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva, and has more than 400 students from nursery school through eighth grade.

The school will be closed today.

UPDATE 9:05AM EST: Ramapo Town Police tells in a news release, that the fire is NOT being considered suspicious.

  1. My children go to ASHAR. From what I’ve been told, if heat and water can be restored to the undamaged portions of the building, without damaging those part hit by the fire, classes can resume. I’m hoping that school will resume by next week, given the upcoming President’s day holiday.
