Home Sweet Home Responds To YWN Posting Video

First of all, thank you to Yeshiva World for posting our video (HERE). Since you have posted the video over 10,000 people have watched it on Google, and people who need help have been contacting us from all over the world.

If you want to contact us our email address is: [email protected]

If you email a request, we will be happy to email you the GOOGLE LINK. As far as the “credit” – it is only with tremendous Siyata Dishmaya that HSH exists and is B”H successful!

As far as the “credit” down here on earth for those doing the actual work:

The real credit goes to the literally dozens of volunteers who open their hearts, homes (and wallets) on a consistent basis. They are the real hero’s! It is ONLY their incredible patience, commitment to the boys, their warmth and kindness which somehow manages to slowly open the hearts and minds of these poor lost Yidishe souls. Only Hashem can repay them each for their dedication to returning HIS lost princes to their proper place by the throne.

It is important to note that there is NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION WHICH GETS PAID! Also, THERE ARE NO OVERHEAD OFFICE EXPENSES! NO STAFF!

EVERY PENNY DONATED GOES “DIRECTLY” TO HELPING THESE KIDS GET THEIR LIVES BACK!

HSH receives VERY little Government help since we are a non-professional service.

All we got is heart and soul… and that’s all we need! It is the generosity of the Jewish people which keeps HSH alive and allows us to do our best for these kids.

If WE don’t help them… who will?

A LITTLE ABOUT HSH:

HSH is for English speaking boys, ages 16-23 who can not find happiness and success anywhere else.

If we feel that a boy can be successful in any other program – we prefer not to work with the boy.

Some are literally “homeless” and others may be living at home but are not able to function properly and lead happy and productive lives.

Many have a history of drug and/or alcohol addiction and many come in with no connection to yidishkeiyt or Frumkeiyt. When they move into HSH, most are, in fact, “anti-religious” r”l.

All are from Yidishe homes… brought up in the frum world… but unfortunately ended up…

There is no way to categorize them… to stereotype them… each has a different story… each is an individual… the only similarity between them is that they each have experienced extreme trauma, pain and suffering… nebach…

TO BE CLEAR:

“NO” YIDISHE KID “DECIDES” TO DO THIS TO THEMSELVES!

WHEN YOU LOOK INTO THE EYES OF A YIDISHE NESHAMAH WHO IS CONFUSED, REBELLIOS AND OFF THE DERECH – KNOW ONE THING:

YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE FACE OF SEVERE “TRAUMA”

YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE FACE OF SOMEONE WHO EXPERIENCED “GEHINOM” HERE ON EARTH.

(v’Hamaiyvin Yuvin)

Since many people requested info for the main criteria which HSH looks for is:

1) The boy must WANT to turn their life around – even if just in theory… deep down…

If he still seems to be “enjoying” himself… then that is a sign that he is not yet ready to face his pain and deal with even trying to fight hard enough to change his life around.

2) We can not deal with someone suffering from any major psychological problems.

The program is basically as follows:

* HSH is a 24/7 program – this is their actual HOUSE where they move in and live!

* The boys all must work full time – we can assist them in finding appropriate jobs

* Most of the boys who came were previously unable to hold down a job for over a few weeks… and yet within our structure we have never had a problem with a boy maintaining their job.

* Our main job starts once they come home from work:

* The women in the community take turns making delicious home cooked meals for the boys so that when they come home from work – there’s a delicious hot fresh home-made meal waiting for them! (That’s the BEST therapy!)

* Every evening from around 8-11:30 an extremely dedicated set of volunteers comes to the house and spends time with the boys.

* There is a set schedule for the week and a set group of volunteers for each evening. So the boys know who to expect every Sunday night… Mon night… etc.. etc…

THESE VOLUNTEERS ARE DEDICATED AND AMAZING… THEY ARE THE ONES WHICH REALLY DESERVE ALL OF THE CREDIT FOR HSH!

* The weekly schedule is filled with all different kinds of things to offer them good clean “kosher” fun.

* Shabbos the house is closed and each boy is set up to spend Shabbos as a guest by one of the volunteers or various other wonderful people from the Flatbush community who agree to open their homes (and hearts) to these boys.

THAT’S JUST THE BEGINING…….

One last note… actually an appeal:

HSH was a “pilot” program and no one knew what would happen… if it would last… if it would work… etc.. etc… This May will be 5 years since we opened and we can proudly tell you that IT DOES WORK! But the sad thing is that there are hundreds of boys and girls out there which we CAN NOT HELP! Now that we know that this system works – we need other people to decide to open a home!

It sounds crazy but – we already did the hard part and tested it out! It is hard work … but the system works miracles! WE GAINED MORE THAN WE GAVE! WE ALL GREW FROM THIS EXPERIENCE EVEN MORE THAN THE BOYS DID!

WE NEED HOMES FOR BOYS AND GIRLS! It is not THAT hard and it doesn’t cost THAT much! There should be one home like this in EVERY community!

PLEASE… IF HASHEM BLESSED YOU WITH THE ABILITY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN… EITHER FINANCIALLY… OR PERSONALITY… OR CONNECTIONS… PLEASE STEP UP TO THE PLATE! WE WILL HELP YOU!

R’ Chaim Kaniyevsky Shlyt”a said that these kids are the “Maiys Mitzvah” of our generation!

Besides, you never know who might end up being saved because of it…….maybe even your own relative.

We pray for the day that HSH and the other MANY AMAZING life saving programs will not be needed and when Moshiach will finally put an end to all pain and suffering and bring us to OUR “HOME SWEEEEEET HOME” IN YERUSHALAYIM EER HAKOIDESH!

HSH is a 501-C3 Federally recognized tax deductible organization.

PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PART IN THIS GREAT MITZVAH!
