A medical resident at a hospital in Argentina has been suspended after posting a series of antisemitic messages on social media that included calls to murder Jews.
In one post, Miqueas Martinez Secchi, an intensive care resident at the José de San Martín Hospital in La Plata, wrote, “Instead of performing circumcision, one should cut their carotid artery and main artery from side to side.”
The messages came to light after Argentine journalist Dani Lerer exposed them on X, prompting widespread outrage.
In response, Buenos Aires Province Health Minister Nicolás Kreplak issued a statement on social media. “Any aggressive message or one that shows disrespect for human life is incompatible with medical practice, and especially with medicine,” he wrote. “These are fundamental values in the training of healthcare professionals.”
The minister added that the resident “has been suspended and is currently under administrative and legal investigation.” He noted that the case will be reviewed by a professional committee, which will determine whether the doctor will be allowed to renew his medical license. The decision, he said, is also based on “other previous incidents that have now come to public attention.”
