HEAT WAVE: Hot Weather Continues in NYC Region


hw1.jpgWe may be in the midst of the first heat wave of the summer of 2009, WCBS reports.

A heat wave is three straight days of 90 degree or warmer weather.

Central Park’s high temperature was 91 on Sunday.

Meteorologist are predicting a mostly sunny and humid day on Monday with a high temperature of 92.

Monday night will feature continued humidity with patchy clouds and a low of 74.

Tuesday will be just like Monday.

Wednesday will still be warm and humid, but only some sunshine and the possibility of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. The high is only expected to be near 88 degrees.

Thursday will be partly sunny, warm, and humid with a high of 86 and possible showers or a thunderstorm.

Friday and Saturday will have clouds and sun with showers and a thunderstorm possible. The high will be 85.

If you must go outside for extended periods of time, remember to use sunscreen and drink plenty of water.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Bill, the first Atlantic Ocean hurricane of the season has formed about 1,160 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, the Associated Press reported.

Hurricane Bill was moving northwest at 22 mph with sustained winds near 75 mph. The National Hurricane Center expects Bill to get stronger and could become a major hurricane by Wednesday.

  1. Yuck! How I envy the polar bears in the Arctic now.
