  4. Here is Tehillim chapter 19 for the refua shleima of “Ruchoma” Aliza Sarah Chana bas Esther Liba :

    1. For the Conductor, a psalm by David. 2. The heavens recount the glory of the Almighty; the sky proclaims His handiwork. 3. Day to day speech streams forth; night to night expresses knowledge. 4. There is no utterance, there are no words; their voice is inaudible. 5. Their arc extends throughout the world; their message to the end of the earth. He set in them [the heavens] a tent for the sun, 6. which is like a groom coming forth from his bridal canopy, like a strong man rejoicing to run the course. 7. Its rising is at one end of the heavens, and its orbit encompasses the other ends; nothing is hidden from its heat. 8. The Torah of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making wise the simpleton. 9. The precepts of the Lord are just, rejoicing the heart; the command of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes. 10. The fear of the Lord is pure, abiding forever; the judgments of the Lord are true, they are all righteous together. 11. They are more desirable than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter than honey or the drippings of honeycomb. 12. Indeed, Your servant is scrupulous with them; in observing them there is abundant reward. 13. Yet who can discern inadvertent wrongs? Purge me of hidden sins. 14. Also hold back Your servant from willful sins; let them not prevail over me; then I will be unblemished and keep myself clean of gross transgression. 15. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer.

  5. Flatbusher,

Please back up your words with daas torah.

I’ve heard countless shmuezzen and seen many sources in seforim hakdoshim that say that something like this is a wake up call. You can look up the Rambam as well.

Laitzonus is when people are inspired to do teshuva and someone comes along and makes light of it to lessen the impact.

  6. There is no question that we are all obligated to guard the laws of safety and health, nontheless every tragedy is a wakeup call for teshuba as the Rambam clearly states in the beginning of Hilchos Tainos. It may well be that part of our Teshuba is to be more vigiliant in rules of safety and health but that certainly is not our only sin. To imply otherwise is, as the Rambam says, cruelty–for we are diminishing the urgency of Teshuba.

  7. that child is my niece – my brother’s daughter. it is so different when it is suddenly so close when it is actually hapening to you… wake up call or not, she needs our prayers.
Or take upon oneself a kaballa to improve something small, or give tzedaka. please daven for the precious child.

  8. Flatbusher,

it always amazes me that people can say harsh things when there are those, Lo aleinu, that are suffering.
here some young innocent little girls life and health and well being hangs on the line and you want to ‘preach’ that people need to be more careful!
accidents happen, lo aleinu, all the time and YES we need Hashems protection ALL the time no matter how much effort we put into being careful. that’s what Rosh Hashana is all about. Hashem decrees evrything no matter how careful you may act it is all from above. Yes we need to do our part but ultimatley it is all from above. so yes this is a wake up call for every one especially at this time of year and specifically for people like you who think that ‘ushmartem et nafshotechem’ is enough CAUSE IT’S NOT. WAKE UP DO TESHUVA AND DAVEN FOR THIS GIRL INSTEAD OF POSTING YOUR NONSENSE COMMENTS!

  9. “Ruchoma” Aliza Sarah Chana bas Esther Liba use to live here in our city. We here in Cincinnati have been reading Tehillim since we heard of this tragedy. May Hashem listen to our Tefillot. May she have a Refuah Shlaima.

  10. Flatbusher: whether this is meant to be a wake-up call or not, why not use it as such?
Are we on such a high madrega that we don’t need to improve ourselves before RH & YK?
A wake-up call means a shake-up! Can anyone yid (rachmanim, bayshanim and GC)hear of such a story and not get jolted?
We live in a world where we train ourselves not to get emtional about events around us. This is a mistake! The Rambam calls it “Achzarius!!!”.
May we all be zocheh to be inscribed in the Book of Life!
    Besuros Tovos!

  11. I have added Ruchoma Aliza Sarah Chana bas Esther Liba to the Tehillim list a mens club, Judeo Drive, in Boca Raton, Fl maintains. May she have an immediate and complete refuah Sheleima
