Israeli Embassy in Jordan Evacuated

Under the threat of a million man protest march against Israel in Amman, the Foreign Ministry has given the order, evacuating Israel’s embassy in Jordan Wednesday night.

While the staff frequently returns home to Israel for weekends, they were ordered home early after the painful experience in the Israeli Embassy in Cairo. In that incident, Egyptian commandos were called in to extricate the Israeli diplomatic staff, which was trapped inside the compound, facing a blood-thirsty mob.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman decided to preempt any incident this time around, ordering the staff to evacuate and to return to Israel immediately.

Under the banner “Jordan Helping to Free Palestine”, organizers hope to bring a million people to the Thursday march against Israel as the anti-Israel sentiment continues to snowball in the Mideast.
