‘Don’t Volunteer With MDA’ Is The Message At United Hatzalah Event

At a kenos chizuk for members of United Hatzalah at Modi’in Illit last week, attended by rabbonim of the community, including the mora d’asra of the city HaRav Meir Kessler Shlita, a major topic addressed was the continued harassment of UH members by MDA.

Rav Kessler addressed the current situation in Eretz Yisrael, calls to induct chareidim into the IDF and ousting avreichim from beis medrash, signaling the connection between these issues and the friction between UH and MDA. The rav explained that such is galus, and this is what it has been and will continue to be and we must learn to endure. He added “This is daas Torah and the Torah directs us not to volunteer for MDA and not to belong to this organization that calls itself MDA”.

  1. I have more of an issue with MDA pulling out of Yehuda and Shomron.
Friction is rarely eliminated by disengaging and not communicating. Like it or not, MDA and UH are in the same line of business: caring for the sick and injured. If the only time you talk is at the scene, arguing over a patient, then everyone will suffer–MDA, UH, and the patient.

  2. With the MDA it is all about MONEY. They took off the Magen David to get $1.5 million from the International Red Cross.
The UH work totally lesham mitzvah. The don’t want competition the MDA

  3. Not sure where you’re getting your information, but MDA is not “pulling out of Yehuda and Shomron.” (I say this as a Shomron resident and as a close friend of one of the MDA people here.) They may be putting a red diamond on the ambulances instead of a red star, but they are not pulling out.
