3 Year Old Lakewood Child Burned By St. Moritz Spray

Yet another child was injured after being burned by the St. Moritz oven spray, Lakewood Hatzolah confirmed to TLS. The 3-year0old Lakewood child came in contact with the bottle and mistakenly sprayed it in his face, narrowly missing his eye. The child suffered a serious rash on his face.

Hatzolah transported the child to the Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Hatzolah members both in Lakewood and in NY have strongly encouraged stores to remove the lethal spray from their shelves. To date, at least two groceries have removed the spray.

  1. Did the child, may he have a refuah shelaima, suffer a “serious rash” or a serious burn?
If I’m not mistaken, San Moritz is an Israeli product. Does anyone know if there have been injuries from the product in Eretz Yisrael? If yes, then why is it still being manufactured or, at the very least, been recalled?

  2. It’s like these stories are on repeat from the previous year, and the year before that… and yet it just keeps happening, which means no one’s learning the lessons that need to be learned here.

  3. Is Easy Off any better? Should we remove Bleach from the shelves?
Parents must be very careful with kids at home, just as you would with any other poison that are normally kept in a home. Having products removed from the shelves doesn’t work. It will only make the customers and storekeepers more inconveniences by forcing people to go somewhere else.

  4. Again! When the last incident happened last week, some comments were against me when I said that any parent that has this product in their house is irresponsible! What do you say now? This will keep happening EVERY eruv Pesach as long as this product is still on the shelves. No matter how careful and vigilant the supervising adult is, face it:
    ACCIDENTS DO HAPPEN!
Is a clean oven worth your child’s face?

  5. There is a milder version of ST. Moritz with a yellow cap which i use only if the Sano brand with yellow top is not available. Whatever the case is, you don’t need to be a rocket ship scientist to know not to use such when children are around and to remember to store it high up. I wonder if this mother was busy shmoozing on the phone which is something that too many young mothers seem to value over their children. Yes, i do agree with this showing some form of irresponsibilty of the parent and may fall in the same category of parents who leave children in the car alone, and a gun under the seat!
