TRAGEDY IN BROOKLYN: Orthodox Jewish Man Murdered By Neighbor Who Blocked Victims Driveway

A family already shattered by previous tragedy is sadly mourning once again.

A 23-year-old Frum man was R”L stabbed to death by his neighbor after he had blocked the victims driveway, Sunday night / early Monday morning.

Sources tell YWN that two Orthodox Jewish brothers were stabbed outside their home located at 1261 East 73 Street in the Bergen-Beach section of Brooklyn.

Omari Dahan Z”L, 23, was stabbed in the chest at 11:30PM Sunday night, and was R”L pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital. The (unnamed) brother, 29, was stabbed in the arm and was in stable condition.

Police say the attacker had blocked their driveway, and after the brothers had honked their car horn for some time, the man walked out of his ex-wife’s home and attacked them. Following a brief altercation, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed both brothers.

Police said the attacker fled the scene in a gray Volkswagen Jetta. No arrests have been made.

Volunteers from the Misaskim organization have been on the scene for hours, and have volunteers placed at the hospital as well – working closely with the NYPD as well as the NYC Medical Examiner to ensure proper Kavod Hames.

In a sad twist to this story, YWN previously reported in 2009 that the father and brother of today’s stabbing victim were both killed in a terrible accident at a waste transfer station in Queens.

Shlomo Dahan Z”L, 49, had died in a desperate attempt to rescue his 23-year-old son Harel Z”L from the deadly fumes of an 18-foot-deep cesspool at a Queens sewage plant where they were working.

A third man, Rene Francisco Rivas, was killed when he went after the elder Dahan.

Levaya information will be published when it becomes available.

  1. we can thank all the “sanctuary city” and other liberal “resistance” stuff by the likes of de blasio and eric gonzalez the Brooklyn da, who said he will NOT try illegal immigrants that even committed crimes so they don’t get deported.

  2. Baruch Dayan haemes!!! May Hashem console the family among all the mourners of tzion. But for those that are alive in this Galus let’s learn from this tragedy not to start up even if your right it doesn’t pay and we must remember we are in galus. We don’t own this country. Rav Avigdor Miller zt”l would emphasize this point numerous times.

  3. To Nowecant:

Where does it say in this article that the attacker was an undocumented alien, much less one who was the subject of a prior deportation order that might have prevented this tragedy?? The only person mentioned in the article with a possible hispanic name was the person who was niftar several years ago in a heroic effort to save the father of the person killed in today’s stabbing. You are so typical of the haters who form these steretypes and promote your racist agenda.

  4. gadol: this “hater” your word not mine, find out that the murderer of this Yid was a Haitian under “TPS” which means temporary protected status meaning cannot be deported, the guy tried to flee to Haiti moments after killing this Yid. Do you know for a FACT that the killer never had a run in with the law?

  5. Don’t you love how gadolhadorah, the anti charedi/yeshivish type, is getting all huffy about a perceived anti-immigrant “slur”. “So typical of the haters who form these steretypes and promote your racist agenda.”
    p.s. @gadolhadorah you misspelled’ stereotype”

  6. Where is this information in the article?? I see another YWN article posted much later with some references to Hati but there is no statement that he has been convicted of any crime that was the basis for a deportation order.
