Minister Atias Concerned Over Discrimination in Charish

For the many young families waiting for their dream home in the chareidi city of Charish and they are growing increasingly concerned as the objections to the community and legal challenges from one group or another are appearing in the daily newspapers.

Now that the court proceedings intended to prevent the construction of the city are in the past, secularists have petitioned the High Court of Justice in the hope of receiving hundreds of housing units, explaining they are not seeking to give tzoros to the chareidim, but they are seeking affordable housing too.

Housing Minister (Shas) Ariel Atias has other concerns, that while the city is being built as a chareidi city, he fears the city is becoming an exclusively Ashkenazi chareidi city and he is concerned Sephardim are being discriminated against.

Speaking with Yisrael HaYom, the minister explains that from the date available to him regarding home sales, it appears the community is selling to Ashkenazim only.

One official involved in apartment sales explains many Sephardim have expressed interest in the community but have been turned away without explanation. He fears the city is becoming a second Emanuel, referring to the chareidi community in Shomron.

After receiving complaints pointing to discrimination against Sephardim, Atias has ordered ministry officials to launch an investigation.

  1. Charish is a new city planned for the Galilee at discount prices since the govt is (finally) not charging land prices, which hikes up the price considerably. The plans are to build a huge city, and tenders are open for all JEWS of the country, and WHY NOT?

Have the Sefaradim, Russian, Non-Religious and all those who do not belong to the “Ashkenizic ELITE” bid for housing options and tenders and BUY, BUY and BUY…

Can’t imagine a rule prohibiting non-Charedei or non-religious or Sefardim from moving into sections of Brooklyn, Queens, Five towns, Baltimore, Skokie of CHicago, North Miami Beach, Lakewood of New Jersey, Manchester of England, etc.
HELLO…..get with the program and stop the nonsense of discrimination, racism and sterotypes.

Perhaps start a new trend of folks of “different strokes” interacting, living, talking and walking past each other on main avenues in Israeli cities. We can fortify our ‘shmiros ainayim’, chinuch habanim by explaining & discussing differences that all of us Torah Yiddim manage to do outside of the Holyland.

Resources like Tipat Chalev, Medical Clinics, Shopping Centers, Public transportation, Parks might be intergrated and used by many (including ‘others’). It has been done in areas of Gilo, French Hill, Rananna, Rechovot, Petach Tikvah, & Rechavia. Have only Charedim who are able to live this life BUY IN CHARISH.

  2. Life is much simpler in a capitalistic system, where one’s housing is purchased rather than allocated. Israel should give up socialism. They’ld be happier.
