Rav Rabinowitz Turns to Police to Restore Order at Kever Rochel

In response to stepped up attacks at Kever Rochel in PA (Palestinian Authority) occupied Beit Lechem, including the recent increase in the use of firebombs, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rav of the Kosel and Holy Sites, has turned to senior Israel Police commanders.

Rabbi Rabinowitz has cited the recent alarming increase in attacks against mispallalim and security forces at the tziyun, calling on police to act expeditiously to restore the quiet that prevailed at the site during recent years. Mispallalim on several occasions in recent weeks were locked inside by security forces while they worked to distance attackers from the area.

Officials from a number of involved agencies have promised the rav to act and do what it takes to bring an end to the hate attacks that have become an almost daily occurrence at the holy site.

  1. This is one of the reasons why we need the chareidi parties to take up the cause of our security here! This is not just about Kever Rachel or Kever Yosef, it’s about the Kotel, the Har Habayit, EVERY INCH OF ISRAEL! The main issue we need to deal with is our security and we need the chareidi parties to get involved – they need to STOP allowing the government to give away our Land to the arabs who claim to offer peace, while we know that we will get no such thing!

  2. While there is a need for greater security at each makom kodesh on the West Bank, certain factions of the religious settler movements have made things worse by engaging in their own violent demonstrations against Palestinians and efforts to consrtuct illegal settlements in violations of government and court orders. These counter-productive efforts diverts thousands of security forces from protecting those sites where they are really needed.
