Syria Turns to Iraqi and Iranian Troops for Assistance


asadAccording to Arab media reports thousands of Iranian soldiers from the revolutionary guard are taking part in the fighting in Damascus, working with government soldiers to crush the revolution. Also fighting for the collapsing regime of Bashar el-Assad are Hizbullah soldiers alongside Iraqi troops.

Assad’s forces have lost control of many outlying areas and his troops are now fighting to maintain control of major cities. Iranian and Iraqi forces are in the Syrian Golan Heights area and Hizbullah troops are positioned between Syria and Lebanon, working with government forces to stop the flow of weapons across the border from Lebanon to the hands of rebel forces.
