Rabbi Ben-Dahan Promises Test Results Within 90 Days

bdaAnyone who has taken a Chief Rabbinate of Israel exam seeking certification as a mashgiach, rabbi or dayan knows it can take many months or longer until one receives the test results. According to a posting on the Facebook page of Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, those days are a thing of the past. The deputy minister promises test results will be announced within 90 days.

Ben-Dahan plans to contract out the exam to a private firm, which will have to guarantee the results within 90 days of the test date. He promises that anyone taking a semicha exam will be notified within 90 days and those seeking certification as a dayan, within 120 days.

Ben-Dahan stated the tender to find the qualified company will be published in the very near future as he hopes to eliminate the problematic issue of delayed exam results as expeditiously as possible.

  1. This has nothing to do with ideology or halacha. Any operation that is best done by private individuals will be messed up if a large bureaucracy takes over. Perhaps the Israeli frum (both hareidi and dati leumi) need an internal “tea party”. We got along fine for millenia without large centralized bureaucracies. It’s not a function of which faction controls what, or having any specific haskafa.
