If anyone is waiting for MK Elazar Stern to apologize for accusing Rabbi Dov Lior Shlita of being a racist against members of the Ethiopian immigrant community they will be waiting for a long time.
Stern has been called upon to apologize for calling Rav Lior a “racist” as one who does not accept Jews from Ethiopia. Talmidim of the rav and residents of Hebron and Kiryat Arba state the insulting remarks are unfounded in fact, as anyone who knows the rav can attest.
However, Stern appears convinced regarding the accuracy of his statements and has offered to voluntarily remove his parliamentary immunity to permit Rabbi Lior to file a libel suit against him.
“I will happily face the rav in a court of law on this racist issue and many other racist matters” Stern’s statement said.
