Hysteria? Administrative Orders Ahead of Papal Visit

popeHysteria in preparation for Pope’s visit: Special administrative orders signed by IDF Homefront Commander Major-General Eyal Eisenberg and the IDF Central District Commander Major-General Nitzan Alon were issued to students of the yeshiva at Kever Melech Dovid.

As of the evening of Wednesday, 21 Iyar, Honenu was informed that a Kiryat Arba resident and a Netanya resident, both minors 17 years of age and students of the yeshiva at the kever, have received administrative orders during a police raid at the yeshiva.

The Netanya resident received an order valid for four days, from the 22nd to the 26th of Iyar. The order is signed by commander of the Homefront Command, bans the youth from entering Jerusalem, restricts him to staying in Netanya at all times and restricts him to house arrest at his parents’ house at night.

The Kiryat Arba resident received two orders. One of the orders is from commander of the Homefront Command and bans the youth from entering Jerusalem until the motzei Shabbos Parshas Bamidbar. The second order is signed by the Alon and places the youth under complete house arrest from the motzei Shabbos when the first order expires until midnight on Sunday, 25 Iyar.

Additionally ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) agents and policemen arrived at the yeshivas and homes of at least three other minors and, after they were not located, issued them a summons, apparently in order to bring them similar orders.

Honenu responded to the orders: “The restraining orders issued to Jews who visit King David’s Tomb on a regular basis are a continuation of the usual conduct of the ISA and the Israeli Police. On one hand they ignore murderous terror on the part of the Arabs, including rock throwing and fire bombs on a daily basis in the capital of Israel and throughout Yehuda and Shomron. And then on the other they have no patience with Jews who would like to express their opposition to the possibility that King David’s Tomb will be transferred to Christians.”

  1. #2: Since forever. ISA, like any professional security organization, takes great care to insure the security of visiting dignitaries. And, based on my own experience, they do a good job.

Where? Wherever the visitor is planning to go.

And they are protecting this particular visitor against ALL perceived threats, Arab and Jew alike.
