Former Shas MK Eli Yishai is not having the easiest time building his new Ha’Am Itanu party. Gershon Mesika, the head of the Shomron Regional Council and a well-respected Yesha leader was planning to join the Yishai team but he is one of the 30 people arrested in the corruption investigation being conducted by the Israel Police Lahav 433 Unit.
It is reported that Mesika is not viewed as one of the major players in the corruption, bribery and money laundering operation, but he was nonetheless arrested.
When asked to comment on the report, Yishai aides stated “We are not involved in building the party list at this time”.
