Speaking at a cultural event in Beersheva, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman explained that the next round of warfare between Hamas and Israel is only a matter of time and “a normal country would not expect this”.
The senior minister added “Israel cannot permit herself to enter into a conflict with Hamas every two years”. He feels that if Israel wishes to change this reality that Israel has to boost its deterrence power against Hamas. “They must learn that one that acts against us will find oneself underground in gave and not underground in a bunker” as is the case with Hamas leaders in Gaza.
He pointed out that during Operation Protective Shield during last summer Israeli citizens were in shelters for 50 days but Hamas continues to fire. He calls for a strong hand against Hamas and Hizbullah, drawing an analogy to Jordan’s response to the murder of a pilot of ISIS. “I cannot be that we counted 70 dead and thousands of injured and the nation remains silent. My position was clear as I made myself heard at the time” he explained.
