Channel 1 Poll: Likud & Labor / The Movement Deadlocked at 24


votA Channel 1 News poll carried out by Teleseker places the Likud and Labor/The Movement lists at a deadlock with 24 seats each. Bayit Yehudi is holding at 13 and the right-wing camp has 47 seats.

Likud: 24

Labor/The Movement: 24

Bayit Yehudi: 13

Arab Bloc: 12

Yesh Atid: 11

Kulanu: 8

Yahadut Hatorah: 7

Shas: 7

Yisrael Beitenu: 6

Yachad: 4

Meretz: 4

Right-wing bloc: Likud (24) Bayit Yehudi (13), Yisrael Beitenu (6), Yachad (4) for a total of 47.

Left-wing bloc: Labor/The Movement (24), Arab bloc (12) and Meretz (4) for a total of 40.

Centrist bloc: Yesh Atid (11), Kulanu (8) for a total of 19.

Chareidim: Shas and Yahadut Hatorah with 7 each for a total of 14.

  1. The real issue is which parties are willing to cancel criminal sanctions against Hareidi draft refusal, which might involve either broad based exemption for anyone claiming a moral or religious objection to military service, and might lead to a professional/volunteer army.

    If Likud and Bayit Yehudi agree to the Hareidi demand, they will have no trouble forming a government. If the “right” insists on incarcerating the hareidim, the “left” has an option to form a government with Arab and Hareidi support. If neither secular camp will compromise, they will have no choice but to form a “grand coalition” led by Labor and Likud (and excluding the Hareidim, and the far right and far left parties).
