hamOnce again a Hamas terror cell was uncovered by Israeli security agencies. A joint operation between the IDF and ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) uncovered an 11 member Hamas-affiliated terror cell in the Hebron district. The cell planned attacks including suicide bombers. The gag order was lifted on Monday, 4 Adar 5775.

The main players in the cell are Zayib Mamoun Sultan, 20, of Hebron and a cousin, Salim Abbas Sultan, 28. The latter has already been held in Israel under administrative detention.

ISA officials report that during interrogation the two revealed in the beginning of December 2014, they tried carrying out an attack in Tel Rumeida, Hebron. They were going to lure IDF soldiers by throwing stones at them. When they chased after them, they were going to detonate a powerful bomb against them at a predetermined destination. The attack did not occur due to a technical malfunction.

During their interrogation they revealed attacks were planned by gathering intelligence information from areas in Hebron and Yerushalayim. Some of the suspects interrogated admitted they were willing to be suicide bombers.
