It was a difficult night for Jewish residents of Akko Sunday to Monday, 25 Menachem Av as Muslims in the city rioted while marching and waving PLO flags, knocking on doors of Jewish homes. Marchers also carried an effigy of Ali Darawshe, the baby killed in the Shechem area arson attack that Arabs report was carried out by “settlers”. Police have not yet determined who carried out the fatal attack that claimed two lives, leaving two others with serious burns, fighting for their lives.

Police were summoned to assist Jewish residents, some fearing for their lives in the racially divided city.

Police made eight arrests. The Akko Magistrate Court at the Monday arraignment hearing ordered five of the detainees remanded.
