In solidarity with Christian sector schools throughout Israel, the Israeli Arab sector announced it too will be closing schools on Monday, 23 Elul.

The Christian sector has refused to open schools to being the new school year, calling on the government to end its discriminatory policy and provide adequate funding for the Christian sector schools.

33,000 students nationwide attend Christian schools in Israel.
