  1. “hanhalas hayishiva” is very generic. did any roshei yeshiva actually sign this letter?

Perhaps it was some random “sonai” exercising his ability to ignore the fact that this is “ailu v’ailu” at it’s very essence, or even an overzealous yeshiva secretary who felt so strongly about the issue that he couldn’t not print up a pashkivil on yeshiva stationary…..

There were some huge and widely accepted talmidai chachamim at the pre atzeres event this week – were they going against kavod hatorah and kavod shomayim?

Besides, even if there are differences in their position about what to do concerning the draft law, are we not all in agreement that the law is an objectively bad thing?

  2. SEEINGEMES:

The signs were not posted on the internet or on the streets! They were posted IN THE MIR! Ya really think the signatures were falsh?? Get real.

  3. The Mir is smart because they don’t want their Talmidim getting hurt when the lunatics take over the demonstration and the situation gets out of control. In the past riot police are called in with horses and they smash heads of anyone there.

  4. Mir accepts money from the medinah, so it would be quite irregular for them to want to be seen as supporting a movement that rejects government funding. The goyim’s phrase is something about biting the hand that feeds.

  5. Please see “chofetz chaim al hatorah parshas shoftim page 264 on the posuk ki hashochad” that even a big zadik a godol hador is influenced from the one who gives him money and his psak will be not what the godol wants but like the giver wants. Money from the Israeli government is not excluded from this and no godol that gets money from them personally or for there mosed is excluded from this.
