Following the dispute surrounding the River Restaurant in Ra�anana, the city�s chief rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Peretz Shlita came in person to affix a mezuzah on the entrance.

The restaurant has changed ownership and the new owner, who is Shomer Shabbos, decided to close the restaurant on Shabbos. This led to a call to boycott the restaurant on social media by Meretz Councilwoman Edit Diamant as the restaurant was a favorite spot of many non-religious Jews on Friday night.

Interestingly, many non-religious Jews came out publically against Diamant, defending the new owner�s right to close on Shabbos. In addition, her own Meretz party distanced itself from her campaign. Ultimately, she removed her post from social media.
