I remember when i was a staff member in Camp Agudah, they had the Campers believe that a certain child was kidnapped. They were saying tehillim for him and the parents came down to the camp. They kept this going for 3 days before the police came in with a police dog and miraculously as the sheriff was speaking in front of the Shul, the kid suddenly appeared on the roof.
I don’t know how they led up to the guy jumping out of the coffin but it sure looks funny. If a kid is not allowed to have fun in the summer, when is he allowed?

Minkatch has a record of hitting the news the most, only for awesome reasons…
There is a reason why it’s rated for the best camp in the chassidishe community. They are so energetic and the kids have a blast every single year! Do you remember when the kids raised over $20,000 for Rubashkin?! That shows what energy the camp has…. The kids don’t know what to expect at any minute in the day… One year I was there, there were 11 breakouts and all of them were BRILLIANT!!! Stop criticizing, because this is the reason why America has a million stupid laws. Let kids enjoy the 8 short weeks of camp and laugh along with them…
There was a camp that did something like this a while back. The next year someone in the camp actually died. It was hilarious
Would have been nice if The Yeshiva World would have provided a little background to this story instead of leaving it to the uneducated speculations of the readers.
Firstly, at the no point of this breakout were the boys traumatized in any way. It was not that the boys thought someone they know died and then it was a breakout. Story was, that the boys “found” a 40 year old matzeiva on the outskirts of camp that was planted there by the staff. Boys were told that the family, who were the original owners of the hotel located where camp is now, were looking for it. When found, the boys were told that the family wants to transfer her to Israel. A mock funeral was held for someone the kids didn’t know and who supposedly passed away 40 years ago. And then a counselor jumped out of the coffin and everyone had a great laugh.
People who are not gifted with humor and are not in a camp setting will never understand this. The reaction from staff in other camps was very positive, but they actually work 24/7 and don’t don’t have time to comment here. This was by far more appropriate than many of the over the top breakouts that happen in camps which actually scare the kids. Kids had a great time and a great experience! Hats off to the creative and fun loving staff in this amazing camp!
I wonder what Hashem thinks of this? This is sick . Baruch Hashem I use my head and keep my kids home for the summer. Camps today are so messed up. This could traumatize the kids. Which Rav allows this? Totally disgusting.

Its not something many of us would have thought of but it seems like no one was offended at the camp and after 40+ summer seasons, it gets harder to come up with something new and innovative to trigger color war. Which camp? A few years ago, my boys’ camp broke out at night – that a bear was in the camp grounds. That was fun & believable and they fell for it. Even a spoof levaya is tasteless. Good job the “corpse” wasn’t in tachrichim or the kids would be really scared.

Did not one dumb counselor there refuse to participate on the grounds of AYin HOra!!?!? I have a close relative who sat down to talk to me – sat on a low ottoman, and a few seconds later popped up and said, one should not sit on such a low seat – it reminds one of aveilus. One week later her very young husband passed away out of nowhere. No warning. She was on a low stool for the next week and was spooked (as we all have been) forever more. —- With trepidation I suggest we follow things with this camp for the next few months. Shomer pesaim HAshem!
