Jurors See Fake Weapons In Riverdale Synagogue Bomb Plot

An FBI agent Wednesday showed jurors a fake bomb and deactivated Stinger missile with which four upstate men allegedly hoped to blow up two Riverdale synagogues and shoot down military aircraft.

Special Agent Robert Fuller hoisted the 4-foot-plus long missile to his shoulder, clicked off the safety and depressed the trigger during the dramatic demonstration in Manhattan federal court.

Fuller also displayed the contents of a black-and-tan duffel bag loaded with more than 30 pounds of fake C-4 plastic explosive.

Two other compartments in the bag held a purported cell phone-activated triggering device and a plastic sleeve with 500 ball bearings inside, he said.

Members of the seven-woman, five-man jury leaned forward in their seats and peered intently during the presentation, which capped Fuller’s testimony as the lead-off prosecution witness at the terrorism trial.

Defendants James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen were busted last year after allegedly getting caught in a sting operation led by an FBI informant assigned to root out radicals at an Islamic mosque in upstate Newburgh.

The defendants claim they were entrapped by “agent provocateur” Shahed Hussain, who Fuller said promised each man $5,000 from the Pakistani-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed for aiding the plot.
