Police Conduct Emergency Drill In North Jersey

Authorities are warning residents that they may notice an increase in police officers and emergency vehicles in the region during planned drills Monday through Friday.

The drills will test first responder deployment and response capabilities in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Hudson, Essex, Union and Middlesex counties, the State Police said in a statement. Authorities said the increase in police and fire department presence is no cause for alarm, and no traffic delays are expected because of the drill.

The State Police and local and county police and fire departments will take place in the exercises, which test response time, communication capabilities and equipment, said Nicholas J. Morici, spokesman for the state Office of Emergency Management.
