REPORT: Obama Canceled March Compound Bombing, Wanted Proof Of Death

Sources tell ABC News that in March President Obama authorized the development of a plan for the U.S. to bomb Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound with two B2 stealth bombers dropping a few dozen 2,000-pound JDAMs (Joint Direct Attack Munitions) on the compound.

But when the president heard the compound would be reduced to rubble he chose not to pursue that option.

That would mean there would be no evidence bin Laden was dead to present to the world – no DNA evidence, as the administration anticipates it will have.

Plus all 22 people in the compound including women and children, plus likely many neighbors would be killed.

The president wanted proof. And he wanted to minimize collateral damage.

So instead the president authorized this incredibly daring and difficult operation, scheduled for a time of “low loom” – little moon luminosity – so the US helicopters could enter into Pakistan low to the ground and undetected.

The operation was authorized Friday morning.

It was originally planned for Saturday night but on Friday, for weather reasons, it was pushed to Sunday.

The bombing plan was one of many multiple possible courses of action presented to the president in March and then refined over the course of the next several weeks.

  1. Does anyone else sense Israel’s fingerprint here? How can the US be so sophisticated in targeted killings without expert advice?

  2. EzratHashem…

With all due great respect to the various Israeli Sayeret special forces groups, The Navy SEALS are quite a formidable unit as well.

  3. It was a smart decision. Not only would there not be proof to show others, but we would never sure, ourselves if he was actually there or not.

  4. #1. You zionist fool. Giving credit to israel for all successful missions. Give credit where credit is due; of course Hashem Yisborach and his messengers, U.S.A. intelligence and yes President Obama (no longer barak hussein obama).

  5. Very risky. It took a lot of planning which means that if anyone involved was a spy the cover could have been blown. Also, they could’ve been attacked by Pakastani anti-aircraft systems or Bin Laden’s defenses. It is easy to agree with the decision now that it was successful, DNA evidence is critical to knowing he’s dead and providing the morale boost. It also proves that the US can keep a mission of this scope a secret. Re: #1, the Navy SEALs are pretty much the most advanced special forces unit in the world today and the US has a lot of experience with special foces ops, just most of those operations are so low profile we never hear about them. Still, thge NAvy SEALs were an interesting choice. Why not Delta Force, or Army Rangers?

  6. #2 Being a army vet my self, i can tell you that the Sayeret special forces & the Navy Seals practice together 2 months of the year. We both respect each other and work together on a lot of issues.

  7. No. 4: It is laudable that you call for credit where credit is due. But the US president’s name has not changed. What should change is the belief that one can judge a person by his name or ethnicity.

  8. #7. I have tried repeatedly to correct my mistake and for some reason YWN rejected my correction. Maybe they will allow this to go through. The text should have said “no longer barak hussein OSAMA”.

  9. No. 8: Your oorrection does not eliminate your original error – that there is something wrong with the US president because of his name.

  10. His statement that Bin Laden is not a Muslim leader clearly shows he is Barack HUSSEIN Obama to the core. Bin Laden’s position among Muslims was proven by condemnations from Hamas in Gaza and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

A fool sometimes does do something right. In this case Bush paved the way with the information that was extracted in 2007. Obama just happened to be the wrong man in the right place at the right time.

  11. Give credit where credit is due. Im extremely impressed that the mission was so well planned and was so successful. Obama deserves credit for asking the military to do it in a way that would guarantee that we get Osamas body for identification purposes as well as for making sure not to kill any innocent children (although they would likely grow up to be terrorists, now they are innocent)

With this being said, I still do not think Obama is a good President and this is not a reason to vote for him next time.

Vote with your head not with your emotions!

  12. Obama did what you right wing nuts couldn’t. For a people to feel the wrath of hatred so often in history to be so hateful is sad.
