Anthony Weiner Finally Considering Resigning

As the scandal surrounding Rep. Anthony Weiner grows, the Daily News is reporting that he is finally considering the possibility that he may have to resign.

A source close to the congressman told the Daily News that Weiner had been adamant about keeping his seat – even as the Democratic leadership urged him to quit.

But the unrelenting media coverage, the demands he step down from his party’s leadership, and the growing scandal made Weiner realize he may not be able to bull through the crisis after all, the source said.

The source said one person Weiner would listen to is his mentor, Sen. Chuck Schumer. Schumer says he is “heartbroken” but has stopped short of telling Weiner to quit.

The other person Weiner will take advice from – his wife, Huma Abedin – is in Africa with her boss, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The last two weeks have taken a toll on the congressman, who isn’t sleeping and spends hours pacing his apartment, friends said.

  1. The man is done. His mentor can not help him. His wife Machmoud, can not help him. Sir Anthony can not help himself. Weine is a burnt frank – shriveled and done- the ones that fall off the gril and fall onto the dirt – Capoot – Feh – Ich

  2. I think he should wait.Why quit when he’s (a weiner) on a roll?

Then again, he might make millions starring in a camera advertisement.

#1 Machmoud is a male name. The stereotypical female name is Fatima. Besides, give her a break; she must be huma-iliated by all this.

  3. By liberal standards, he did nothing objectively wrong. On the other hand, what he did is a huge embarrassment to his liberal colleagues and party. Hence the dilemma whether to push him to resign.

  4. You fools, by liberal or any standards he has done things very wrong…danielb43, you comment is simply stupid. That said, by Torah standards shouldn’t you show Wiener as much compassion as you do for chareidim caught in major financial crimes? At least as much, for those finacial crimes destroy hundreds more inocent lives than does Wiener’s moral sickness. Or, per chance, does your Torah only apply compassion to political conservatives? Or is that your Torah in fact permits financial “irregularities?”
