Thursday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


01:30: A bomb exploded in the area of Ziff Junction in the Southern Hebron Hills district. There were no reports of injuries.

09:00: Rock-throwing attacks against motorists traveling on the Gush Etzion-Hebron road in the area of el-Aroub. No injuries reported.

09:30: Three bombs found and safely neutralized in the Ziff Junction area, not far from the community of Carmel.

** IDF soldier Chaim Chefetz z”l, who collapsed and died during a training event in southern Israel yesterday, will be buried this afternoon.

** 3 people were killed and 14 injured in a chain vehicular accident involving 10 vehicles near Nitsana Jct near the Egyptian border on Wednesday. The accident was blamed on inclement weather and accompanying sand storms, which resulted in extremely limited visibility.

** Two soldiers were injured on a southern Nachal base on Wednesday, the result of an accidental discharge of bullets. One is listed in moderate condition and the second light.

12:55: “Massive” rock-throwing attacks between Efrat and Tekoa. No immediate report of injuries.

13:45: A Teacher in the Meikif Vav School in Ashdod collapsed during a Holocaust Remembrance Day event and she pronounced dead in Barzilai Medical Center following advanced life support resuscitation efforts. She was in her 40s.

14:15: Police are investigating vandal attacks against two IDF memorials in the Jordan Valley. In both cases, the memorials were painted with PLO flag and the words “End the occupation”. It appears the attacks occurred during the night.

14:30: A truck driver was trapped in the cab of his vehicle on Weizman Street in Ramat HaSharon after a high tension electric line fell onto his vehicle.
