Jerusalem Light Rail Stands Ready For Tishrei Yomim Tovim


Jerusalem light rail officials report preparations for Sukkos is complete and they are ready for the anticipated sharp increase in riders over Yomtov. Part of the Yomtov operation includes running trains more frequently during Chol Hamoed, when tens of thousands of people are visiting Yerushalayim, with many making their way to the Old City, particularly on the second day of chol hamoed in Israel, Sunday, for Birchas Kohanim.

On this Thursday, 8 Tishrei 5778, the frequency of light rail service will be increased as well, beginning at 8:00PM until 2:00PM.

The last light rail will head out on erev Yom Kippur at 2:00PM and service will halt when they finish their run in each direction. Service will resume on motzei Yom Kippur from Pisgat Ze’ev at 21:12 and from Her Herzl at 21:21.

On Sunday Chol Hamoed Sukkos, there will also be personnel selling tickets to facilitate riders getting on to the light rail. They will be found at the Ammunition Hill and City Hall stations, permitting one to buy a round trip ticket using a credit card or cash.

As in past years, in cooperation with Sukkos Yerushalayim, large decorated sukkas will be available to riders at the Central Bus Station.

During Chol Hamoed Sukkos, the frequency of light rails between 9:00AM and 8:00PM will be six minutes.
