Security Companies In Israel Demanding Guards Return Salaries Received Over The Summer

Security guards in Israel, who are not highly paid to begin with, received a request from their employer to return the salaries that they received after learning the Jerusalem Municipality is not paying the companies.

The Raam Company, which provides security services, employees to protest schools in Jerusalem, has begun sending letters to guards demanding money in return, thousands of shekels. This is the company’s response to learning certain payments made to employees is not going to be reimbursed by the city as the company expected.

One employee was instructed to return NIS 8,159 in cash or check. Other guards received similar letters. The letters also explain the company expects to meet with city officials soon, at which time they will attempt to reduce the amount owed. The total sum in question appears to be NIS 220,000, which the city refuses to pay to the company contracted to provide security and the company in turn, seeks to settle the issue with the guards, not the city.

The city explains the amount in question is for a time period the city was billed despite the fact the guards did not work, and they even signed a document stating they are not working but prefer to take vacation.

The matter is subject to continued probing by Raam and city officials.
