Jerusalem Police Arrest Caretaker For Assaulting Elderly Woman In Her Care


Jerusalem district police arrested a foreign worker on suspicion that she had assaulted the elderly woman in her care for a long period of time. The suspicions include both physical and emotional abuse. She was arraigned on Thursday, at which time police requested to extend her remand. The court agreed, extending her remand until 13 Tammuz, at which him another hearing will be held to discuss her release or continued incarceration.

On Wednesday night, the eve of 8 Tammuz, police officers were called to a residential address in the Givat Ze’ev neighborhood of Jerusalem by two women who told the police that they had documentation that their 77-year-old mother was being physically assaulted and mentally abused for at least 6 months by a female employee, 37, from India, who has been caring for her for about two years.

The policemen immediately went to the house where they located and arrested the caretaker. They also collected evidence and other findings using technological means installed in the house.

It has been documented that the caretaker in custody physically and emotionally abused the elderly woman for the past six months. It was also documented that she stole property from the elderly woman.
