Retired Justice Theodore Ohr noted the professional work of MK (Shas) Yaakov Margi as chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, who is attentive to all and tries to help disadvantaged populations, uses all parliamentary tools available to him in legislation wisely, and acts to advance legislation on many issues. The selection committee bestowed the Excellent Parliamentarian Award on him, an award given by the Israel Democracy Institute.
In his speech, MK Margi thanked the members of the awards committee and declared that this prize is a prize for the Knesset, and the Shas Party, which gives him full backing in all his parliamentary activities, noting that in all his public service he sees the image of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L. At the beginning of his public work to be attentive to the needs of the public and to know that henceforth his time is not in his hands but belongs to the public.
Chairman of the Shas party, Aryeh Deri, who participated in the ceremony, said: “I am excited and delighted that MK Yaakov Margi was awarded the Excellent Parliamentarian Award by the Israel Democracy Institute. He is an outstanding MK, a social activist, a hard worker, a true public emissary and is MeKadesh Shem Shomayim. He works in the professional education committee and promotes legislation for the benefit of all of Israel, but not everything is disclosed to the public. For me, I am proud to head the Shas faction over such veteran and young MKs, which excel and contribute to the entire public.”
