Simchas Torah is behind us and we have recited Tefillas Geshem, hoping for an abundance of rainfall in Eretz Yisrael following five drought years. The experts report if this coming winter does not bring an abundance of badly-needed rainfall, the damage will be irreversible chas v’sholom, pointing out the situation vis-à-vis the Kinneret is critical.
We are however off to a hot beginning of the winter season, with forecasters predicting the unseasonably hot weather will continue this week, with temperatures in Yerushalayim reaching 90F on Wednesday. The skies remain partly cloudy and hazy, and on Thursday, there is hope for a slight drop in temperatures, providing some relief, but temperatures are expected to remain unseasonably high, with sharav conditions prevailing.
Temperatures are expected to continue dropping on erev Shabbos, finally reaching seasonable temperatures on Shabbos. At present, there is no rainfall in the forecast for the capital and surrounding areas.

You seriously expected it to start raining the moment that the chazzan said his Tiskabel kaddish after saying Geshem? Really? Maybe they needed time to let the travelers get back to Babylonia before it starts to rain, eh? Let’s wait a bit, ok?
