While demolition orders for the terrorist who murdered 32-year-old Adiel Coleman HY”D were issued in April 2018, as clearly, the husband and father of four was stabbed to death in Jerusalem’s Old City in a terror attack, documentation has been presented and accepted by Israel that attests to the fact the terrorist was mentally unstable.

The Justice Ministry is accepting documentation that when 28-year-old Abd al-Rahman Bani Fadel, a Palestinian father of two from the village of Aqraba stabbed Coleman to death, he was not responsible for his actions due to his diminished mental capacity. Fadel was shot dead after the fatal attack.

As a result, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit canceled the demolition orders for the home in line with a ruling of the High Court of Justice on the matter, as Mandelblit justified the current policy of not destroying the homes of the terrorists.

When this letter was revealed on Monday, 2 Teves, MK (Bayit Yehudi) Shuli Muallem attacked the opinion of the attorney general and ministry, stating, “The Ministry of Justice’s opinion is a disgrace that will ultimately harm the lives of Israeli citizens.”

In this case, the state has accepted a professional opinion regarding the terrorist’s mental state from someone inside the PA (Palestinian Authority), leading one to question the integrity of the documentation regarding the true mental capacity of the terrorist who perpetrated the attack.

Muallem pointed out the PA praises and honors terrorists, give their surviving family monthly stipends and we now accept their letters regarding the mental health of a terrorist.

So in short, while the murder is still viewed as an act of terror, and the family of the terrorist and those who knew him refer to him as a ‘Shahid’, he is viewed as not being responsible for his actions due to mental illness and therefore, the punishment of home demolition will not be carried out by Israel, based on a professional assessment submitted to Israel by the PA. The fact that Israel has documentation from social media from the terrorist before the attack that he wishes to kill Jews, this is being ignored since the professional letter was received from the PA regarding Fadel’s mental state.
