The Peleg Won’t Participate in The Upcoming Election

A Bochur is arrested at a Peleg hafgona in Bnei Brak

Following numerous attempts to work out a joint-list between Degel, Agudah, Shas, and the Peleg in the national elections, one of the leaders of Peleg, HaRav Tzvi Friedman, a Rov in the Or Hachayim neighborhood in Bnei Brak, issued a letter on Tuesday stating that the group will not run for the Knesset in any way.

The letter was publicized by Kikar Shabbos and stated emphatically that the group, who was very involved in the municipal elections across Israel, will not attempt to set up a party that will run for seats in the Knesset in any fashion.

Rabbi Friedman wrote the letter to followers of Hagaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach ZATZAL, stating that he heard rumors being discussed about the group’s involvement in elections.

“I was shocked and appalled to hear such things, these come from the mouths of liars, and Chas V’chalila there should be any such plans. I faithfully relay to you that there are no such plans to participate in the elections. As the Steipler wrote in a letter, every election should be weighed under its own merit. According to the situation that we have found ourselves in over the past few years, with relation to the Conscription Law and the educational laws, this past government has been terrible.”
