There was a fire in a multi-story residential structure on Chaviva Reich Street in Bat Yam on Sunday afternoon. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they succeeded in bringing the blaze under control in a relatively short time.

Two injured persons were taken from the burning apartment including a 77-year-old man who was listed in serious condition and was sedated and intubated prior to be transported to a hospital.

The second victim is a 7-year-old girl, who B’chasdei Hashem only sustained light injuries. The two were transported to Wolfson Hospital in Rehovot.

EMS personnel later reported a female police officer also sustained light injuries while operating on the scene.

Police and fire inspectors are working towards determining the source of the blaze.
