DRUG BUST: 53 Pounds Of Marijuana Found Growing Inside Bnei Brak Apartment [PHOTOS]

A major drug bust took place in Bnei Brak earlier this week, when police discovered 108 marijuana plants growing inside a private apartment in the Chareidi city. Following special intelligence gathered and an ensuing investigation, police arrived at the apartment and arrested a 30-year-old suspect, who is married with three children.

The weight of the drugs found in the apartment measured at 24 kilos (roughly 53 pounds). Other items confiscated include commercial level equipment used to grow and weigh the drugs.

During an interrogation conducted by police from the Dan region, the suspect admitted to growing the drugs for personal use. He has been brought before a judge for an initial hearing.

On Tuesday, the suspect was brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing.

Police asked that the suspect be remanded into custody for six days. The judge increased the arraignment of the suspect until Sunday stating that due to the measure of the drugs the story of the suspect is hard to accept.

The Israel Police said that “it continues open and covert activity all the time as part of its uncompromising war against the export, import and trafficking of drugs distributed among the population.”
