Canceling Disengagement Law: PM Netanyahu in Opposition

The Shomron Regional Council and evictees from the Northern Shomron yishuvim launched a campaign to cancel the Disengagement Law in the hope of being permitted to return to the yishuvim that were dismantled in N. Shomron.

The campaign will be led by the head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, under the slogan: “Entry to Jews is forbidden.” The United Right-Wing party introduced the demand to abolish the law into the principles of coalition negotiations.

As part of the campaign, a red sign will be displayed, such as the red signs at the entrance to Area A in Yehuda and Shomron, PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas, with the caption: “The area in front of you is completely under Israeli control.”

On Monday morning, the radio program with Aryeh Golan reported the demand for the cancellation of the “Civil Administration” and the annexation of the Jewish communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron as well as the cancellation of the Disengagement Law in order to allow the return to the Northern Shomron settlements, which remain barren.

However, Netanyahu’s associates are quoted saying that, according to the reports in Reshet Bet, that annexation could be made after the presentation of the Trump plan, but the annulment of the Disengagement Law could upset the Americans and therefore would not be approved.

“There is no time more correct to rectify the injustice once and for all,” says Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council. “These days, the government is the most national government that has ever been in Israel, a government that has no one willing to say that the disengagement was not a mistake. This government should cancel the Disengagement Law in Northern Shomron, and there is no reason why this issue should not enter the government’s basic guidelines. This government was elected on this agenda, and must implement this agenda in practice.”
